I’m on day 21 of quitting cold turkey - feeling proud as my husband is still smoking in the garden — I’m fine most the time then just get bouts of being really short tempered — I’m hoping this stage will pass soon

ellismichelle,

Hey there! Girl, I know all too well about those outbursts. I would be fine and then the stupidest thing would tick me off and I'd want to explode (and did a few times). I had to apologize to family members a few times, but after they said, "Gosh, do you want a cigarette or something?" (which pissed me off lol) I knew it was part of the process and knew that, This too, shall pass.

All those years of hearing that when you are angry to take a deep breath and count to ten, and FINALLY it worked for me at the beginning of my quit. Heck even sometimes now, but few and far between. I believe my 1st, 3rd, and 6th month (so far) were the worst as far as a crappy mood, but each month was less and less irritating lol.

It's nice that your husband is in the garden away from you, and that you have a distance in those temper times. Don't want any reason to start smoking again that's for sure. 21 days is so close to 30! You got this. Read up on quitting to know what to expect. It really helps knowing what to look forward to, whether good or bad. God bless!

Omg so annoying when someone says oh do you want a cig I had to apologise to all my work colleagues today lol don’t bother with the husband haha — am determined to not smoke so deep breaths and will count to 10 x

21 days is most amazing, I seem to remember being a little short tempered at times, but it will pass. My husband stopped smoking years earlier than me, and to be honest, I just didn’t realise how horrid the smell was for him, but he never ever said anything.,

Your doing absolutely fantastic, almost a month! Now that’s surely worth celebrating.

Quitting in great style, and proud you should be,

3 weeks is great. It gets better as time passes. Eventually your colleagues and friends will learn not to offer poison :)

Huge welcome to our community and congratulations on 21 days smoke free. What you are going through at the moment is commonly known as the 'Icky Threes'. Have a look through the pinned posts for the post on it. It will pass very soon. Stay close to us and post often.

We always smoked outside due to kids and dog 🐶so glad not standing outside in all weathers — I have tried a few times before in the 30 odd years I’ve been smoking managed 6 weeks last year but feel more confident and determined this time 🤞😃

Good to read ellismichelle Yeah, the moodiness will pass but if you feel you are struggling with them or other feelings of anxiety etc..., maybe get some herbal supplements to relief this...

I’m doing good day 26 nearly done and have realised that it’s not necessarily me that is having a mood swing but if someone annoyed me before I’d walk away and have a cig now I don’t — so as I told my husband the other day your moody and you still smoke lol 😂 going out out Saturday night so will probably just not drink as I don’t really drink much anyway but don’t want to put myself in that position that soon x thanks for checking xx
