Hi I am new on here and have read positive feedback. I’ve decided to break the habit after 44 yrs on n off smoking. I’m doing this for my health I’ve had 3 small strokes n I have 5 grown kids 9 grandkids I had the 3rd scare Sunday. So I’ve bitten the bullet and just gave it up. I’m on patches and a e cig. I’m glad that happened and opened my eyes of all the chemicals in smokes. I’m positive that I can do this. It’ll be long n hard but I just keep in my mind I’m being poisoned. Well it’s only been been 3 days but I’m determined to do this.

Hi Spoilt...Warm welcome and certainly the best decision of your life taken 3 days ago...Congratulations..Pity that we must be scared to take this step but anyhow it is never to late to quit smoking...

Within 3 days all the nicotine and carbon monoxide is out of your system and our wonderful bodies starts to heal itself....

It is a long process but it is ongoing every day you stay smoke free..your will be going from strength to strength..

After so many years smoking it will be a tough journey ..the physical cravings is heavy at first but within 30 days it is almost non existing..The emotional impact is almost always the reason for relapses but bearable...Then the hard one is the physiological one where our brain needs to be rewired back to normal...Nicotine took over our life and our brain was rewired to except nicotine as the only way to cope with life's curve balls..We lived in a false Euphoria of happiness all these years and only discover the true life the day we free ourselves from this entrapment..

Stay strong and carry on reporting on your progress..we all love success stories..!

Welcome Spoilt , well done on 3 days :)

If using nicotine in the ecig along with the patches, be VERY careful that you do not overdose with nicotine as can have adverse reactions with possible swelling and rashes.

The pinned posts here are very informative and helpful. Keep up that positive and determined attitude, it is vital in our quits :)

Thankyou. I just found out about that from my sister. I already have rash on my face I think. Od the nicotine. Thankyou for your response and I will be careful.

It can be very dangerous using multiple forms of NRT- best if you can to stick to just one....

Finish the patches dear, they will work. Grap yourself a straw to imitate the smoking or chew on it.

After the patches, I broke down and got a ecig. Just a store bought for emergencies. Make sure its not a Fuse, they are BAD.

You can do it and we are all here when you get down.

Good luck :-) I've made a commitment to stop too. I know it will be tough, but I have had to be strong in difficult situations in the past and succeeded. Stay strong, we can do this!
