and I smoked..............

I bought cigs as soon as I got there. I didn't go over board with the smoking like I normally wud. But it just wasn't the same feeling as stupid as it sounds.

on the plus side, if that's what you wud call it, once I landed off the plane at home, I used my ecig straight away again!

so tell me if this is stupid, but I'm still going to say I have 3 weeks done and now count this as my week 4, its better than going back to square one for me at least anyways. I know its like a cheat week but...

please don't think I'm a loser!!! Tut tut.

😔

and I know I didn't even try to prepare myself for the holiday, I was setting myself up for smoking before I even left. And. . The amount of people on holiday that sat by the pool with their ecig, actually made me miss mine, and I felt like such a scum bag smoking cigs! Felt so dirty...

HI Leesa...Welcome back...I can only answer with a quote :

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”

– Henry Ford

NS..You will never be a loser as long as you keep on trying to quit..!!!

Hey you.... I don't think you're a loser... you knew it would be hard and to some degree it was a self fulfilling prophecy as you didn't give yourself a chance. You convinced yourself you would smoke and you did.

I don't think you can say it was a cheat week as I think you're setting yourself up for failure by allowing yourself to smoke for a week and not counting it.

Hold onto the feelings you had about smoking, dirty. You don't want to be a dirty smoker, so start up again and go from here. I think if you don't, psychologically, you're allowing yourself to be a smoker when you want, I don't think that will lead to success.

Don't be too hard on yourself, well done for coming here and telling the truth, you clearly want to stop, so start stopping again and go for it!!! We're all here lovely, no judgement...

Big hug x

St!t happens; it really does. I'm sure there are lots of others out there who have fallen off the smoke-free-wagon (I seriously can't count the number of 'final' times I've quit). All that matters is that you're still trying to quit. We'll get there!

All the best,

George

thanks George. I have had LOADS of final times before but I'm determined this is it. I'm going to save this time and see the financial benefits at least and feel the health benefits. Strong minds eh??... Lol good on u too!! Ur doin brilliantly too

It would be very hypocritical of quite a few people here (me included) if we called you a loser! I did the same several times.

Holidays are the hardest time in my opinion and with it coming so soon in your quit it was always a hard call. Don't feel bad about it Leesa, you've done the right thing by going straight back into your quit.

Good for you for coming back on and telling everybody. You could have just quietly slipped away and not said anything...shows you're serious about quitting!

thanks Nozmo. I literally couldn't wait to get off the plane and get my ecig again at home . So I'm back at it again.

couldn't justify paying £8.00 for cigs now. Wud make me cry.

on holidays they were €4 for the same as home. Made it easier but still... Bad choice. Just surprised I wanted my ecig back so much. Thanks for ur kind words

It's a weird old thing the psycological aspect of smoking. I went to Chester Zoo at the weekend and as soon as I got out of the car I saw people smoking in the car park....remembered I had done the same when I visited a few years ago...and immediately wanted one!!! Up until then it hadn't even crossed my mind.

Weird psycosomatic, subconscious...thingy....stuff. That's what it is!

Hey LeesaD , welcome back! Delighted to see an update from you but sorry you slipped during the week away on holidays. Its good you are back on your quit and took a lot of courage to come back on here and share this as Nozmo said so many slip and we just don't hear from them again.

Unfortunately there is a but....... as you slipped and you are not re-starting your quit I will have to remove your badge as it is not a true quit milestone achieved. We have seen a good few members slip, not restart their quits and then just have that puff again and then get reeled back into smoking full time and are no longer here with us on the community.

Whereas we have numerous members that slipped up (some after a year quit) and are more focused and determined than ever to never slip again and are coming up to their 1 year milestone....

Wishing you strength and success in your quit journey.

PS Never think you are loser, you are far from it, losers are those who give up on quitting :)

You're a star... be kind to you! I gave myself lovely little treats for each week. Nothing grand but creams and oils, just for me, not for my son or anything, me. I'm important too, and so are you!' Well done sweetheart x

Hey! Well welcome to my world! I have been known to relapse a few times myself. Don't worry about it. You are back on your e-cig and that is what count. Nobody on here this is you are a loser at all. Most of us have been there, done that.

Glad you had a good holiday. Nice to have you back 😁

Most people, including myself, have multiple quit attempts before they completely succeed. Don't be down on yourself, but learn from it for your new quit. Be more prepared for your next vacation.

Enjoy the weekend all.
