can I hear peoples vaping success stories, symptoms etc. I love reading them and its a good encouragement for me. Thanks in advance for reading this.

can I just add, that my family are heavy smokers, and I am avoiding visiting them all because they literally chain smoke. Any advice?

You SHOULD be proud of your four days LeesaD, it's a big achievement!

I started off on 24mg and gradually worked my way down to 0mg over about 6 months. Lots of people here have come off them considerably quicker than I did but that was the most painless way for me. Saying that, it was still very hard, especially at the start and I couldn't have done it withut the ecig.

I think you're doing the right thing by avoiding your family (that sounds awful sorry, couldn't think of another way to put it!) Maybe tell them the reason you're not visiting? I'm sure they'll be fine when you say you're trying to stop smoking and would be too tempted to join them at the minute. Also you could still visit but just stay for a short space of time and gradually make the visits longer until you get comfortable with the whole thing. They might think you're going a bit barmy though :-)

It's a hard one. the only advice I can give (from experience) is that once you get through one of these situations it does get easier. My hardest challenge was the pub with my smoking mates. I used to be puffing away on the ecig both inside and outside the pub at first. Now it doesn't bother me one bit when they go out for a smoke...it just got easier and easier along the way.

You're doing great - best wishes and hope it continues to go well.

Hi there LeesaD

I've recently passed my first month smoke free (yay) and I use an e cig. I started off at 16mg nicotine as I had dropped a few of my really important (at the time) smoking times over a number of months. I've gone right down on my nicotine since I dropped my e cig and broke it, am now using a friends old one with less than 1mg.

I could not have done it without my ecig, sane as Nozmo. I wasn't necessarily stopping because I WANTED to, but I felt compelled to for many reasons.

I think that my experience has been largely positive. There is infinitely less sh*t in the liquid than there is in a cigarette. Both my doctor and the practice nurse are pro ecig to help you stop smoking which was encouraging. The other thing I did before I used one was educate myself on the nicotine dose, ingredients, where the liquid is produced and how the e cig works well before I quit.

You are doing AMAZINGLY!! I am of the opinion that every day without a cig is a great day and needs you to congratulate yourself. And finally I agree with Nozmo, explain to your family what you are doing and I'm sure they will understand. It's a hugely tempting and pressurised situation to put yourself in by visiting so early on in your quit. Be kind to you... you got this!!! 😊

As it happens, Day 4 vaping is a massive success and something of which you should feel proud. Well done. Keep going.

I gave up using an e-cig, it was the only thing that worked for me. I used it for a couple of weeks and then cut down to 0mg (over a few days) before ditching it completely on holiday. Everybody is different and my advice is to use it as often as you need to in the early days. I puffed away on mine like a chimney to start with. Also, the other good news is that quitting an e-cig is nothing like quitting cigarettes so when the time comes, don't worry about it.

As for visiting your family, well, Nozmo is right. Until you are further along in your quit and feeling more confident, avoid visiting. Explain to them your reasons, they will more than likely understand. When you do visit, the first time may well prove difficult with subsequent visits a lot easier. I avoided visiting a friend because I knew I would cave in and smoke when I saw her. However, cross this bridge when you come to it.

Keep going. Use your e-cig as often and as much as you need to at this stage. If you need support, post as and when you need to.

You've got this. 😃😃

Ermmm........Sadly I must admit I have not yet visited. Hopefully I will go in the summer. After 3 relapses I just couldn't risk it. It seemed too bigger price to pay 😔

Oh no, sorry mushen!! I didn't mean to pry, just assumed you had visited after a few months, when the cravings settled down. Me and my big mouth!

Nah, you're OK. It's fine! I did arrange a visit but it got cancelled (illness) and I was secretly pleased, in a way. She had quit but then relapsed and is now back smoking full time. Sadly she seems to always be complaining of shortness of breath. Anyway, I am going to suggest a visit in the summer because I feel I will be able to cope now.

Leesa day 4 is amazing!!! I can still remember how proud I felt to even manage 1 day!! I started vaping on 12m then 9,6,3 and now I'm on zero. It took me ten months to get free from nicotine but every one is different. Find your own pace, one thing I did was to keep a 12m liquid even when I went down to 3m incase I was having a bad day and I really wanted a smoke, better to go back up in liquid strength than light up a smoke. What I found was that as my body adjusted to the lower amount of nicotine the higher dose just made me feel dizzy and sick and I still stayed off the smokes!! 😊
