As well decided to loose weight I've also decided to give up the cigs. I'm trying to do it cold Turkey but, I've already had Two this morning π.
I'm giving up due to doing the race for the life in July. π
Has anyone ever done it cold Turkey?

Just popping my head in, to say hi, I don't know anything really cold turkey, but many on here have quit cold turky, i am sure some one will be around soon.
Brilliant dicision to quit.
You can do this, just have faith in your self.
Channy ... Both very good decisions and I wish you all the strenght in the world....Both that quits will deprive you from all your energy and will take a huge amount of dedication...!!
Getting fit might help to keep mind over matter...strongs !!!!
I did it cold turkey and its rough but nothing we can't beat. It's really all about will power and your desire to really quit. I wanted to give in so many times but never did once. When I was craving, I truly looked at cigarettes and refused to let it beat me or break me. Still crave but not bad at all. It took me truly about 2months to really beat my triggers. Good luck and don't give up. I feel so much better and I like what it has done to my body and marriage since putting out cigarettes.
Welcome Channy1995 - I gave up cold turkey over a year and a half ago, was a bumpy road at times but worth it as feel the best since I was a child
Your title is slightly contradicting as you have smoked so it is not really Day 1 per say - to quit you must have 100% focus, commitment and determination to quit and nothing should get in the way of that - loosing weight and quitting is putting a serious amount of pressure on yourself and perhaps quitting should be your priority until you are strong in your quit.
We look forward to seeing your 1 day quit post very soon and will be here to help you on your journey, below are some helpful pinned posts if not already read

Hey Channy1995 - how did you get on today?
Hi, I'm really struggling. I'm think I'm putting too much pressure on to myself. Think I should go on patches. I'm doing too much way to soon eg trying to loose weight , and stopping smoking.
Hi Channy1995 - as suggested with my reply the other day, it is serious pressure alright, quitting needs sole 100% focus. Have you stopped - began your quit from Monday, if so, you will have the nicotine out of your system now and going on patches would be stepping backwards BUT if it stops you from lighting up that cigarette, by all means, go on the patches - stay close to us, read up on quitting and other people stories here - you can do this - it is tough as the mental battle begins but so achievable, post anytime you need to (keep reading the helpful posts that I replied to you the other day)
Wishing you strength
Hey Channy1995 - are you ok? No word back from you?
Hi yes I'm fine I was busy. I've not smoked as much today Ive kept my mind busy. I also joined the gym yesterday. Thank you so much for your support
Oh, thought you had started your quit from your post yesterday saying you were struggling???
As this is a No Smoking community, any reference to smoking would not be fair on our quitters to be reading and inappropriate, especially early on in their quits. You are welcome to read and research here for your quit and we look forward to your Day 1 post very soon
Hey Channy1995. I didn't do cold turkey so can't comment on that but some super strong quitters on here have done so.. I think it takes a LOT of strength and determination and I wish you all the best. I think making the decision to quit gets you much closet to the goal You've done that so well done! You will find lots of help and support here, I look to it myself as still in early stages too. Stay strong and don't give up!
Yes, I gave up smoking cold turkey on March 20, 2017, today is my 22nd day of no nicotine. I attended a class at a hospital, it was free, titled: Quit with Nancy and it was 3 hours a night for 4 evenings. My personality is such that cold turkey was best for me. I pray you are successful whichever method you choose. I believe making a quit plan is very helpful, having a quick reference to read on why you are quitting, I also used an acronym, NOPE (NOT ONE PUFF EVER) and repeated it to myself, I download an app on my phone, all of these things have been helpful thus far. I am early into this smoke free life but with lots of prayer and strength from God, my mantra is NOPE - not one puff ever!
Hi everyone! Thanks for all your messages, but I'm really struggling I just need to get it in my mind
