So when did irritability improve for you? Honestly, I don't FEEL that irritated, but others say I am? That I'm more terse I guess. I feel okay, so I guess my irritability is harder on my family than me. The only time I notice feeling irritated is when someone lectures me about being irritableπŸ˜›

Mine lasted a few weeks...outright anger at first then simmering irritability for a few weeks, mostly taken out on my family. It will go but it's hard to put a time line on it.

I don't even really notice that I'm being mean, but my family says I am. I just keep saying sorry and it'll get better soon. I think at this point in my quit it's harder on them than it is me😜 πŸ˜„

Hey kpulliam78 - the irritability will gradually improve week by week but will come and go throughout the first 6 to 12 months of your quit as you come across different situations of when you smoked and adjusting to not smoking in that situation - also, non smokers get irritated too - this time of year is a prime example, everyone is longing for spring / summer to come, things will get better, January is nearly over and days getting longer now 8-)

You know, I mentioned that. I went outside and raked leaves in freezing temps just to get out of the house. I don't think that had anything to do with quitting smoking, and everything to do with cabin fever. I also said maybe they're focusing on my mood more than usual. I told them it's normal and it'll get better. Also said harping on someone about being irritable is totally unhelpful. Just give me space and peace and quiet.😊

Yeah, January is such a gloomy month - you're so right, be kind to yourself and selfish if necessary, what we are all achieving in quitting is very. very hard and unless you quit yourself, other people looking in cannot understand and know how difficult it is :) Keep up your great attitude!

I'm thinking I'm cruising through this with no mood swings, then my hubby who also quit starts humming, not a real song just random humming. I ask him politely to stop. In return he does it louder. Visions of stabbing him isn't cruising along. Guess I'm alot more irritated than I thought. 26 days for me. 22 days for him. Dear Lord give me strength..

I feel that way about whistling. And most noise in general. Okay, so maybe I'm only okay as long as everyone is quietπŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Good job on your quits, Ldanilovics! My s/o quit the day after I did, but started vaping instead of smoking so it's not exactly the same for him. I tried the vape but hated it, so went cold turkey.
