Hello and welcome!

Yes, of course you can do it! The key seems to be really wanting to do it and it sounds like you are in the right frame of mind. Take it one day or even one hour at a time.

Good luck! ☺☺

Having a harder time right now then yesterday. Therefore, I am now taking it an hour at a time. Thanks for your support.

Keep going. It will get easier. Just keep plodding along and for now, do whatever you need to, to stop you from smoking.

You can do this, without a doubt.

It will be 24 hours for me at 5:00 p.m. today and I am so pleased mainly because I have so much stress in my life to deal with (one of my adult children) and I just found out a few weeks ago I have glaucoma (therefore, they cannot remove cataracts). Enough of me. I am trying to keep busy; find I can be quite cranky quickly if someone upsets me - but i do not want to give up. Thanks fir the encouragement and you keep up the good work too. Thanks

Hey webbs8 just noticed from your post above that you are on Day 8 again (day 10 now hopefully), sorry that you had a fall but well done on getting back on a new quit, well done :)

Perhaps give us a progress update with a new post and confirm your quit date for your new milestone badges when you get a chance....

Hello mileska

There's never an easy time to quit but you're doing it...and you've got the first day over with. You can't get any better than that at this stage!

Well done and please keep posting to let us know how it's going. We have all been through it and know how it feels.

So far so good. Thanks for the encouragement. At 5:00 p.m. today it will be 48 hours, and I understand that when I reach 72 hours Sunday at 5:00 p.m.), the rest of it will be psychological as the nicotine will be out of my system. Is this true? Good luck to everyone trying to quite.

Thanks again

No problem mileska. Like mushen said, just keep counting the hours and days at this stage and look towards the next milestone. And KEEP BUSY!

Yeah, you're right, all the nicotine should be out of your system after three days so the physical dependence will be over. You will almost certainly still get cravings though so be on your guard, especially for the unexpected trigger points (situations that you associate with smoking)

Have you got a phone app to track your progress? If not I would recommend one as they really help at the start of a quit. Keep posting...only three hours until your next milestone....assuming you're in the UK or Ireland :-)

Do not use a cell phone. I am keeping busy though, and yes taking it hour by hair today, because of today goes on, it is getting more difficult. Thanks for support. I will check in later.

Stopped Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. and it appeared it would be easy. Now tonight, Saturday at 8:00 p.m. having a difficult time. I will keep going because I do not want to give in, but the urge is strong. Thanks for support.

Now just a little over 48 hours and my mind is testing me - like asking me, why bother to quite at age 69? It is getting really difficult but it is now 7:50p.m. and I can do it.

Welcome mileska and congratulations on the best decision you will make in quitting. Day 3 today for you and if cold turkey, the nicotine will be out of your system by the end of today which is a huge achievement - the mental battle will begin then as your brain and body begins its gradual recovery process. Just take it one day at a time, keep busy and drink loads of water / fruit juices.

I am over 14 months quit cold turkey - the most important word in your first post is 'determined', which is vital in our quits. Keep that mindset, read up as much as you can on what happens when we quit, there is also some good pinned posts across this page which may be helpful to you.

You are doing great, continue to stay close to us and post anytime you need to :)
