I am currently in my 57th hour of cild turkey. Was feeling terrible. Heaviness in the head. Restlessness and listlessness at the same time if possible. I have got myself a little card and candles to celebrate tomorrow after 72 hours are over. I am holding on. Its tough...but i am holding on. I want to be in charge. No more an addict.

Hello and welcome! Well you sound like you are in a great frame of mind for your quit which is exactly where you need to be!
It is tough, there's no doubt but no so tough that it is not an achievable goal. Well done for making it this far. In 72 hours you will be nicotine free - whoop whoop!
Keep yourself busy if possible, drink lots of water and even go to bed early if it gets really tricky. You can do this. Post on here often especially if you are feeling the strain and need a bit of support to get you through.
I get the thing about being in charge. I hated cigarettes being in control of me as well.
Hi. Thanks for the quick reply. None of my friends are addicts like me and though they empathise thay fo t understand. I need your support. And sleeping is getting tricky...had insomnia ladt nite
Problems sleeping are normal I'm afraid but worry not, they do ease off. It has to be said, that this group is probably one of the best around for support so post often. Just hang in there. The first few days are definitely the worst but it does get easier. Take a look at WhyQuit.com. Another fantastic site with short videos to get you through the first few days and weeks - everything you may experience is on there! Sounds boring but so worth looking at because it also helps with motivation.
You can do this. You have done 57 hours so do not cave in now. Do whatever it takes to keep going one hour at a time.
NSG... Welcome to this community and seems you are doing Gr8...All the symptoms of a cold turkey quit and yes 72 hours calls for celebrations...Stay strong and keep us informed !!
NSG75 Congratulations on your decision to quit! I love the way you will celebrate your 72hr success. Hang on to everything in your grip and don't let go. It's a rough ride but in a few weeks the ride will slow down and everything becomes easier. Lean on this group in tough times and come celebrate your all your successes with us too!! We're all in this together.
I'm approaching my 3 month milestone myself. Pretty proud of myself with all I've been through and how many hills I've had to climb without a rope.
Hey thanks all of you for your posts. I really admire you not only for quitting but for being there fir people like me. I was feeling really down...then better...then restless. ..not being able to concentrate on anything...tv, phone, laptop... Its night here, i will try to get some sleep. I am watching the clock tick...counting the hours. If i cant sleep, i will post again. I have taken off from office and go back next monday. So plenty of time to go through the worst without affecting my office space. Actually i coordinated the cold turkey with a tooth surgery. The tooth is ok.
By the way should i take a sleeping pill? To help get sleep?
Hi, and welcome from me, you have the confidence to get through those 72 hours, so holding a huge banner, with a great message saying, s massive well done.
Now it is the 67th hour of ct. Slept a bit last nite. Was feeling morose in the morning....but the thought that nicotine leaves the body in another 3 hours is cheering me up. Actually i am smiling. Going out to buy a cake to go eith candles and card. Whoops.....
