Hi all I have just joined the forum after reading so many lovely supportive posts! I am on my 10th day of going cold turkey and going ok. I smoked for 16 years so a hard habit to break - I have felt in my own little world since giving up and still not sleeping well but determined to press on πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Š

Don't turn back keep going. I went cold turkey, I'm the type that either does or doesn't, no in between but I truly struggle every day and wish I could just vapor. It has been easier for me but I fight it daily at work. I never smoked at home but work is my hardest. Been a chef for 10 years at same restaurant so every where I turn it's triggers. I spend 80% at work so I fight every day. Keep fighting, don't let something that little defeat you...

Thanks holly wow 50 days is a great achievement well done!

Triggers at work must be very hard especially as you with such long days but keep going you have done so well! Xx

Thank you but please know 10 days is amazing. It does get easier. I don't think about smoking at home or when I'm on phone nor on a car ride, I never thought I could break those last two triggers. What has helped me really has been will power given from god but this chat line. I may not post a lot but I read daily. Stay in touch and post anytime

Hey Hidden , I can really sympathize with your work trigger with the profession you are in. I am currently doing a Professional Cookery course and in work placement every Friday night in a local fine dining restaurant. I will never forget my first night after the shift, as I walked to my car buzzing from the whole experience, I would have murdered a long drag of a cigarette, it lasted for my 10 minute journey home. I seem to encounter it after busy shifts and at college after our practical assessments. Surprisingly and luckily enough, there is only one chef out of our small team of six that smokes (still hate the stink of smokers when they come back in!) and in college. I promise, it will get easier and really have no doubt you have the strength to fight it.

Keep up the great work!

Claire... I really honour people like you quitting Cold Turkey....Quitting in all aspects is difficult and is a true mind game...The roller coaster ride of your life and what a wonderfull achievement if you can break this habit that became and adiction....Physical, quitting is bearable but emotional it is tough...You will feel in your own world which I called the "Blah" period...Nothing make sence..Zombification steps in and then suddenly one day you wake up and rediscover life... Wonderfull...!!

Stay strong and believe in youself...!!!!

Huge welcome ClaireHowell84 (sorry for the late reply), congratulations on over 10 days quit. I too quit cold turkey a year and a half ago - one of the best decisions I have made - remember you will never regret quitting but may regret not quitting!!

All of what you are experiencing is perfectly normal and will pass and improve soon. They say it takes 21 days to break a habit and then it is a mental battle where we must be prepared to attack at all times - just take it hour by hour on the bad days - for every day not smoking the stronger you become :)
