Reaping the rewards

I've been looking at the skin on my arms. It has definitely, noticeably, improved since I stopped smoking.

It doesn't look like the skin of a Greek god (unfortunately) but it looks less like the skin of an Egyptian mummy! :-)

Anybody else noticed any big changes since they stopped?

Arrgh, sorry for late reply! Working in a place that is like a nuclear bunker today - no wifi or phone signal at all!! Just seen your reply when I emerged for my lunch.

Is the day improving at all? Give me some abuse if it helps? I don't mind, everybody else seems to be doing that at the minute ๐Ÿ˜€

owww thanks buddy, you're a sweetheart :)

Just massive troubles at work because of my migraines and my absenteeism, they just love me a bit too much LOL

Nothing to do with the fags, I'm done with the fags, I only come here now to say hello when I miss you guys ;)

Hope the work situation sorts itself out mmaya, that's the last thing you need. You have my utmost sympathy with the migraines. Don't get them myself but my mam used to suffer badly with them so I know what they can do.

โ€ข in reply toNozmo

I know...it's really debilitating! I'm a bit down lately because of that, but I'll be fine. How are you anyways? I hope your day got better in the end.

Stranger things have happened Nozmo, hubby will be quit in 2 years in May and has gone from getting his hair cut once a month to twice a month!

Nozmo profile image
NozmoValued Contributorโ€ข in reply toRoisinO1

How strange Roisin...wonder if that's a common thing? Got to agree with mmaya on this one though - no amount of not smoking is going to get these follicles working again ๐Ÿ™‚

Nozmo...yes..the rewards are huge, great, magna........

I have found my skin to be stronger...The slightest scratch punctured the skin in the past and lately it can take much more punches...!!

Just shows that we are on the winning side of this expedition...!!

Nozmo profile image
NozmoValued Contributorโ€ข in reply toHercu

Yeah, I suppose this is just one of the visible effects....there is also a lot going on in the background that we aren't aware of! Happy days.

Well I look better when I have a few pounds in my wallet that's about it, I'm no longer doing the shopping counting the pennies all the way to the till

So in a way my smile got bigger and brighter!

After 6 months, the benefits for me are:

I can breathe again, smell again, taste again, enjoy nature and its beauty (smoking seriously spoiled that for me)

Hair, skin and teeth (gums still a bit sore) look healthier

Can have a conversation without stopping to cough, can hold a song or two without getting out of breath

Nasty cough gone (not completely, but nearly there)

A lot more productive at work and concentration better with not having to go out for a smoke when I am stressed or under pressure

Can deal with stress alot more calmly

Gained new healthy eating and drinking habits

Energy up and down but when up could climb a mountain!

With the money I saved from not smoking, booked and paid for a 5 night break to Vienna for hubbys 40th

Well If there was ever an advertisement for not going back to smoking that's got to be it!

Had my lunch now so it's back to the bunker, cut off from society! See you all later....

My update on how I feel and look

The bags under my eyes are nearly gone, they were really bad, black and sunken

My hair feels silky

My teeth are cleaner and I no longer 'gag' when brushing my teeth, strange but true

I smell things I hadnt smelt since I was a teenager - flowers, grass et

I can breath easier, dont get out of breath when rushing

Like Roisin i am strangely calmer, work doesnt stress me

I am in front of myself workwise and enjoy what I am doing

downside - circulation has improved massively and I truly struggle to sleep because I am so hot, the plus side is the heating bills will be lower

Nozmo profile image
NozmoValued Contributorโ€ข in reply torunmeg

I wish my sense of smell and taste had improved runmeg. Both are exactly the same as when I smoked! Maybe it will just hit me one day!
