My husband has a very busy, and often stressful job and it feels as if it’s been building recently (perhaps I notice more because he’s working at home). Last week something happened at work which caused him enormous stress, and it’s something that won’t be resolved for a while.
Since then, his mood and behaviour have deteriorated. He is so low...won’t eat, is very tired but can’t sleep at night, can’t do anything! He went to the doctor on Friday and talked to him...he prescribed Prozac. He has now taken them for 3 days and is feeling even worse. I honestly don’t know what to do and would be grateful for any advice. He is normally funny, jolly...will do anything for anyone. I think he is having a mental breakdown and I don’t know if the meds are making him worse.
Any advice would be appreciated.

With regards to Prozac, you need to allow five weeks for the drug to begin to work. It is important you keep taking the medication and not chopping and changing etc, that will make matters worse
My partner has started on sertraline and hes been the same made him worse too i dont no how to help him ethier, he isnt confident in the tablets he has actually said he is stopping them as they have made his anxiety worse 😢
Honestly he has only taken them 2 days his 1st day he had them was ok but second table had a full on panic attack around 10/11 hours later, woken me through the night asking for a ambulance legs was shaking and his anxiety went through the roof. I managed to calm him down but i have never seen him like this myself in the 4 years he has started with tve anxiety. Today he hasn't left the bedroom, hasn't eaten he is refusing them now he is so scared of having them or any other tablets if the doctor will suggest. Today has been awful im so helpless.
Facing the reality of having to take medication for mental health can be an emotional trigger in itself, , Prozac can irritate me people's stomach , though don't think he'd notice a difference (good or bad ) after only a couple of days..Antidepressants are very slow to work (it takes weeks for the body to build up a high enough level in its system).. It won't be able to help with sleep just yet, he'll want to find another strategy for that..
I hope he can find his way through work issue without harming him long-term . good luck
