Fear of dying

Anybody else have a completely irrational fear of dying. It’s causing my anxiety to go beserk 😞

I guese it normal but I think you have to strengthen ur mind by talking positove to yourself. Whenever that thought creeps in, u can just overpower it by a strong mind. Seems fearful to think like this

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I went through a phase when I was aged 8 where I feared dying. I think it may be down to my grandad dying suddenly when I was 5, my auntie was found dead on the landing and my uncle collapsed and died in the kitchen. I’ve had bouts of anxiety in the past but the last year it’s crept back in more frequently. I’m on serataline which has helped.

That was a lot of trauma to deal with in the past. The last year has been really difficult in so many ways that it is understandable that past anxieties would creep back. Hope you find a way out of it soon.

Sad to say you are not alone regards Death and a fear of it. The problem is it is one of the many fears people have, and there is very little we can do to prevent our own demise and we need to come to terms with that pathway to the Golden Gates. I was very much the same when I was in my teens and mid to late twenties and looking back at myself then on this is basically counterproductive and a waist of time, we have to put these negative thoughts to the back of our mind and live our life the best we can.

Consider we are put on this world to learn at the School of life and when we die we go back home for an extended holiday and Examinations of what we learned on this world. Eventually we may be re-born to learn learn in the classroom of Live. I am seventy now and to be honest it seems to get easier as we get older. When I was younger I wasted time and my life wondering about death Why worry about something we can do nothing about ?

Our Life is for living and experiencing many different attitudes in Life, some can be unpleasant while others are wonderful like our first date and kiss, al so meeting people who we hopefully will be with for the rest of our Lives.

I have been married now for over forty years, we have travelled around the world and visited many wonderful places and their Societies in general. Even in the Uk it has been a wonderful environment to live and work in.

Yes there have been negative periods of time in my life and sometimes it can make you wonder why we find ourselves in negative actions of others.

However we live and learn and to be honest, Given what I have learned I have no fear of the time I have left on this world, We all need to live our Live in a deep intensity while understanding tomorrow may be our last day on this world, we generally never know the instance of our death so why worry. Enjoy your Live understanding we have to live for the day. Tomorrow is a wonderful bonus whatever situation we find ourselves in

Yes I have a huge fear of dying to the point where I have a panic attack and cry my eyes out. I suffer a lot of illness and live alone and my worse fear is what if I die alone. Who’s going to have my dogs and look after them everything goes through my head it’s awfull

I still have a fear of dying, yet I have no fear of Death! I'm sure that most people will have a fear of Dying, but that's not irrational, My Mother Died due to a Hospital not following their own guidelines and mistakenly giving my Mother Penicillin of which she was highly allergic to, She suffered "Anaphalactic shock" and went into a Coma and sadly did not wake up. I am terrified the same will happen to me, I am terrified of dying alone or Suffering for a long time before passing, ( I already suffer constant pain and am on Opioid medications) I would prefer to pass away like my Father he had a cigarette in his ashtray a glass of alcohol on the table next to him and his favourite TV channel on, he just went just like that. Dying I am sure everyone has their fear of Suffering during their passing? Yet no one seems to fear the state of Death! Perhaps that's because there will no longer be pain, physically or mentally. Me I sometimes wish I could live forever, yet at other times I like many others just want the pain to go .

Very sorry to hear about your parents. You have experienced both versions of dying, one going quickly and the other slower. I’m not sure which is best. My grandad died suddenly when I was 5 , I lived with my grandparents and my mom so he was always there growing up. I think that is where it stems from. My son has moved to Australia last January and the plan was to visit him in November. I worry I’m not going to see him again, although we video call twice a week. I’m not fearful of what happens after, I have a Christian faith , though not devout or anything, but I believe there is a heaven. It’s the not knowing when it will happen. But then again, if you did know, you would be counting down the days! Keep going, you’re not alone x

Thank you Belle, as a youth I thought my next birthday would be my goal to reach, now I am just glad of every day I awake! I am also a Christian, I followed Catholicism as a youngster, I still have some Catholic ideals yet I believe as long as you have a good Heart and help other living beings then Heaven will welcome us !
