Trigger Warning. What can I do ? I have contacted my mental health team last week as I get into a state and self harmed& really consider ending it, this is getting worse every time I get so bad I self harm worse than b4, my sertraline was increased to 150 from 100, they made me feel worse, but I’m told to call them bk next week , they told me tablets take time to work, but if they making me feel worse surely they r workin, I have had a headache for about 2 weeks now, I can’t get an appointment at doctors. I’m worried if I get into another state I could do some real damage, it’s not like I want to be dead I want to b happy , but some times emotions and thoughts take over and I will self harm

Maybe you have too much serotonin in your system from sertraline? Too much serotonin makes you feel crap and can even be dangerous I don't want to advise you to reduce your dose but you should go to your GP and say you feel bad on them ?

Meanwhile don't self harm there is no point and you have said yourself you don't want to die you want to live and be happy

Drink orange juice and coffee ( coffee just on a morning) and eat apples and beans to give a dopermine boost which will counter the serotonin

If you feel you need immediate help please call NHS 111 and they will advise and support you.

When you speak to your surgery in the morning please be as honest as possible with them and they will give you an appointment to see a GP.

In the meantime you can call The Samaritans Freephone 116 123 [24 hour helpline 7 days a week].

My heart aches for the predicament you find yourself in. I applaud your courage in posting so honestly and transparently.

Keep trying to get that appointment!

You have received a lot of good suggestions from our Moderator and other members, I will add my prayers because you are a precious human being - there is only one like you - please do take special care of yourself moment to moment and remember as a community here we care about you and for you.

Together, we can make it - there is strength in numbers, you are not alone. Sharing the difficulties gives us a chance to care about you and as someone has already said, be honest because that helps those capable of helping you to know you, authentically.

I'm believing in your ability to stay strong and in the future, I look forward to celebrating your steps of victory moving beyond these difficult moments.

Hi I hope u have got yourself an appointment.

I am in similar situation and being told not to self harm makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong and because you feel bad you do it again. (vicious circle)

I don't know what you do but I cut my arms I haven't done so for a while now.

I got told instead of trying to stop yourself maybe get a pen lid for example and scratch my self with it, (or even to draw on myself) it had helped me to feel it without actually cutting.

So maybe you could use a similar technique. I also have a hair tie around my wrist that when anxious I wrap it around my fingers and pull and play with it if I'm around people for instance.

I really hope u get the help you need.

I am on here tonight as I am really struggling at the mo with my depression.

Hi, sending you lots of love, I’ve been there with self harm & feeling suicidal & i know it’s so hard to just stop. I would advise going to a&e if you’ve not been able to get better help yet, it is an emergency when you know you’re a threat you yourself, you need that extra help to get you through.

Or is there anyone close to you you can tell & ask them to stay with you & hide the sharp objects etc? I know it sounds basic & when you feel the need there are many ways to hurt yourself but at least to have the most obvious temptations taken away should help. Also have you tried something like boxing or running etc when you feel the need to hurt yourself? Sometimes the punishment of extreme exercise can counteract that feeling, the exercise is the punishment!

Really hope you’re getting the help you need & well done for being brave enough to be honest & look for that help, it proves you do have the strength to get through xxx
