Hi, sorry posting again, mmm mmm, how do I put this......
Was servearlly depressed, LOT of trauma as child, found, and got addicted to adrenaline to feel anything, unfortunately got this adrenerline by illegal means. Got caught, feared prison experience would be identical to when was in care as child, when screamed for help from mental health they replied "there's nothing we can do, your going to prison and that's it". Lost ALL hope, tried to kill myself, lol, that resulted in a even longer sentence! Found out prisons easy compared to experience as child, it's not nice, but compared to my childhood it was nothing to be fearful of! Now, got NO MENTAL HEALTH HELP the years was inside despite repeatedly requesting it, was at hostel on the outside for a year, requesting help, none given, now been in havering 6 months, been "assesed" twice over the phone, and finally been put on "waiting list". In total its been 3 and a half years now, roughly, and have not received any help. Have been diagnosed as having PTSD (from childhood ), Personality Disorder "Aloneisum", and Idealistic Suicidal Tendencies. Not forgetting the Bouts of Servear Deppresion i have had since childhood. Yet no help. Hence very curious to know how long does one have to wait on average for some help in Havering, because so far, and it's true I have not been in one borough for the entire time ( prison ), it has though been 3 and a half years waiting for Mental Health to do something, anything, how long does someone wait? Especially as the psychiatrist who diagnosed some of these conditions stated i must be seem monthly if not weekly in one to one or the PD would reassert themselves?
Is there anyone from Mental Health on this board?
Again I apologise to everyone, it's just been so long I feel like there is no help out there, I just don't understand. Perhaps I am autistic after all? The probation risk assessor gave me a test and i got 8 out of 10, apparently, very autistic, but like everything else, thats as far as it goes, a diagnosis but no help of what to do to overcome, fix, live with it?...
Lol is there a condition name for getting depressed for so called experts to pull their fingers out, lol? If such a condition exists, I most certainly have it that's for shore!!!

Three and a half years is a long time, something has gone wrong or they feel your condition may not warrant Mental Health Therapy. I would advise you talk to your GP and explain your needs. Make a list of your concerns, that will help you cover all salient points when you attend your GP Surgery.
Mental health in throughout the Nation seems to be a poor relation in the UK. In London I suppose the situation may be made worse by numbers. Are you British.

As Gemma suggests you could investigate various organisations that will try and help you in your location. In our area we have a Mental Health Day Centre where people can visit and meet like minded people who will give you support understanding and friendship.
We also have organisations that give Therapy by the back door with no charges, in fact sometimes GP use these services, look on the web or ask your GP reception if there are any in your area. They generally run a course of around ten sessions and that may get you back onto an even keel.
You can also try Social Services they may be able to help, they can arrange assessments and move you along the line. The basic idea is to get yourself seen and move on so no matter which may you turn get seen.
One other way when you are really ill is telephone NHS Information Line on Tel 111. They will assess and if needed move you on
It's scandalous how the mental health system is going nowadays in some parts of the UK ( I'm in Birmingham. ) and you have to sort of be well enough and "savvy" enough and follow them up all the time to get any help at all which is hard when you are underfunctioning and vulnerable.
I have had similar problems but luckily have the money to resort to private help; because that is all that is available nowadays. There are some charities do low cost counselling for your condition. If you can get any sort of a worker ask them for help in accessing it.
So sorry for what you are going through. It feels like we are being punished for being ill doesn't it but really it is just that mental health is underfunded and poorly organised and also that mental health problems are on the rise due to our crazy society and the way it is going. gemma x
All very good suggestions i will try them all. I havent tried social services yet, perhaps they might help?
A lot of the others I have tried...... MIND didn't even bother responding, twice, in Brixton or online. Family Mosaic referred me to a mental health clinic that doesn't even exist. Lambeth Mental Health assesed me, said I needed one to one, plus CBT Therapy, the second time i saw him he said CBT would contact me and one to one wasn't needed? This was while I was in probation run hostel, technically not a borough resident because I was homeless, so...... CBT informed probation they would not accept me. Again people working at the hostel and my probation officer thinks they wouldn't help because it would mean them spending money on someone they are not paid to help. Havering, been assesed twice over the phone in six months, never meet anyone face to face, probation has been pushing for help monthly. I did go to a charity run group coffee walk in centre, but they said i needed specialist help that only mental health could give.
probations risk accessor - asked for mental health help.
probation asked for mental health, mind, Sova,Shaw trust sofa, help
Sova recommended i get help, still waiting.
personality group in prison requested mental health help.
drug and alcohol addiction team requested help.
personality disorder group requested help.
Samaritans recommended mental health step in.
prison phychiatrist who I eventually saw 3 weeks before discharge from prison recommended a increase in my risk level as I was getting no help from mental health.
GP refused to take responsibility for changing my anti depressants and wanted mental health to take the decision because because of my past he didn't feel safe as not a expert in the field to make any changes....
Its madness! Everyone I have so far tried to get help from always state I do need help but are not willing to risk being the ones to do it, guessing incase it goes wrong? But they ALL keep reffering to mental health but mental health seems to be just as scared of helping as everyone else.
Even a shaw trust mentor at probation said he will try and start a personality group up near where he is based as none seem to be willing to help. Only thing is he is based over 3hrs away, so if I went it would mean 6hrs travel a day on public transport, for someone with personality disorder who was a hermit for 15years and never left his flat, travelling 6hrs a day through London terrifies me!
Inside all that is drilled into you is become a contributing member of society, so far I don't see any evidence of a society! Mind you its only been three and a half years......
Just emailed Haverings Social Care department. Perhaps they might decide to give Mental Health a poke to get them moving? If probation AND social services together have a complain perhaps someone might wake up? I know from experience what it's like to get the medical ombudsmen to investigate ( prison withheld insulin from me for 36hours, nearly killed me, if it wasnt for a diabetic officer threatening to call an ambulance in from outside the medical staff in there would have killed me!!! ) , so I would rather not go that route unless I really have too.
