Me again.

darkshadow back again.Had bad time. Muscle spasms neck and shoulder.Went to A&E last Sunday. Given strong painkillers and diazepam. Eventually pain stopped after about 4 days. Felt good on Thursday--more like my old self with energy and a good outlook. Then, yesterday was racked with abdominal pain which went on and on until I was in tears. I couldn't empty my bowels in spite of laxative. The pain was such that it drained me of all my strength and had me in non stop tears all day.I saw the doctor yesterday afternoon. She was very nice as I wept in front of her. The result was I have to have a blood test next week. Now I'm scared it is bowel cancer. She gave me more laxative, diazepam and said I needed to go on antidepressants again--which she also prescribed. I haven't taken any as the side effects are just awful. I've been there and don't want to goback. I took a diazepam at bedtime last night and still feel tired and weak this morning although they are only 2mg. The crying continues but I'm hoping I will get better without more drugs. They are dished out as a cure for everything no matter what they do to your personality in the process. I've had some success re bowels now so think it was the constant pain of that and the muscle spasms that have dragged me down rather than the lack of antidepressants. Time will tell.

I have since been told that painkillers can result is constipation and I was on strong ones for nearly a week. What do you think?

It's most likely this is just constipation due to codeine containing pain killers.

Hmm, sounds like codeine to me. If you need to use codeine again, then I would urge you to get something called Senna Col. It's a stool softener and needs to be taken with loads of water. Works a treat ... better than laxatives.

Re tummy pain: hit your local pharmacy up and ask the chemist to mix up some peppermint water for you. It's really good for tummy pain. Don't be fobbed off with Mintec capsules. It HAS to be pure peppermint water.

Hope everything sorts itself out for you soon.

Cheers.

CONSTIPATION is a terrible thing to suffer, as its toxic and all those toxins are in your blood giving bad headaches. i used to suffer from it badly. pain killers like tramodal and coediene and probably others cause terrible constipation. terrible cramp and pain in the stomach is unbearable. im pleased to hear that you have been to the toilet now. try and watch your diet and make sure that your getting plenty fibre.i have edited this post as i see that you say that you have been on strong pain killers, so that will be what it is. the only relief for constipation pain is going to the toilet and having a bowel movement. love grace xoxoxo

Update--blood test was clear. No more painkillers. No constipation. Still cry in the mornings but it's better than taking antidepressants---for me at the mo anyway.
