Hope everyone is well and recovering strong.
I just want to post an update about my circumcision journey so far, as i have gone through the wars, the reasoning for the op is niche and i hope to ease any anxieties if you are going through something similar.
So on the 5th Mar i underwent a circumcision (High and Loose, happy with aesthetics) and to this day, 47 days post op the wound is healing well. My bulbus swelling around the frenulum is reducing in size very slowly it'll take some time. After having regular doctor reviews, i neglected cleaning the area where the skin fused below the glans. I was scared to expose the stitches, but now clean the area gently with gauze. So please do this, thankfully an infection never broke out.
During my recovery on the 30th Mar i bled out my meatus when going bathroom, i felt a pinch as if something internally had come unstuck. Quickly i visited the GP the next day and was prescribed antibiotics. The bleeding stopped on the 2nd Apr.
In time, a consultant called for my post op catch up, i told him of the bleeding and he immediately booked me in for a consultation. During this time he explained that they found lichen sclerosus present in my foreskin during the biopsy of the tissue. The infection is uncommon and mainly found in the vulva of woman, but in men the foreskin. It causes itching, scarring and can change the appearance of the penis. Circumcision is the only way to stop the spread. Following this revelation I was booked in for a scan and cystoscopy to investigate the bleeding.
At this point i am relieved to find out what the cause of the bleeding is and somewhat frustrated because of the delay in healing post circumcision.
So roll on the scan, the doctor found no problems with liver and kidneys. Good news.
Today i had the cystoscopy, can you imagine putting a camera in my penis to investigate the bleeding, where its sore. My curiosity to find out why I was bleeding overcame any fear i had. The beginning of the procedure was painful, when he injected the local anaesthetic gel into my penis through my meatus, more pain for me because my meatus is tight/narrow. The camera wire slid into my meatus it was painless. I only felt the urge to urinate, which disappeared and saw my pipe work on screen which was cool. After all the investigating he took the camera out and I felt immense burning like no other, blood dribbled out my meatus. The burning was so intense I was sweating.
The urologist said, my pipe work is tight, i need to keep an eye on any narrowing of my meatus, if that happens they'll have to dilate me with a catheter, but should be fairly rare. He said that the lichen sclerosus, caused the bleeding due to tightness of pipe work and for having the infection a long time. My bladder and prostate looks healthy, tract a bit inflamed. However, he said i should be fine, urinating and ejaculation should be normal after a full heal.
It all ended after 20 mins, i made my way home and was in immense pain, the burning. Its been several hours since and the burning has disappeared, i am drinking water regularly and some milk. Every time I urinate the stream is forked and feels like i am passing needles and razor blades, no bleeding though.
I feel intense stinging in my penis, which is normal for me as my pipe work is tight and inflammed (due to camera wire), but this should go in 2-3 days, if not then ill contact GP for antibiotics.
My consultant will now organise a meeting with me and surgeon to discuss findings. I await that.
For now I recover from the cystoscopy and circumcision.
Just wanted to say, have the courage and patience to see recovery through, it will not happen overnight.
Clarity breeds confidence, so get the doctors view, so you can solve any complications with adult circumcision, this is key to self confidence for a strong recovery.
I hope everyone recovers normally, but this posts highlights my journey of recovery, and complications that come with adult circumcision, it can happen and hope my post helps.
