Hello EveryoneJust had to show you this little 12 week old cutie baby orangutan Sibu Junior. He's being hand reared at Monkey World in Dorset as his mum couldn't learn to feed him. I love his little face, hope you do too!.

Thank goodness there are these sanctuaries!.

Do hope your all doing as well as you can and will keep as dry as possible this weekend.

MistyXx

P.s, had a good tel appt with my Pain Consultant. She wants to see what Orthapods say about my foot as they might suggest another op. She will help it if they can't so i'm very lucky to have her!. Seeing the surgeon on 4/12 so not long now. Update afterwards. Thank you for all your wonderful support. Xx

Thank you cecily for your lovely message. So glad you liked junior cutie. I'm so grateful for my caring Pain Consultant and always think of you whose had such awful care. I hope things are a little easier for you now. How have you been with Storm Bert?. Hope no flooding, it hit S.Wales badly.

Another tough Strictly Dance off!!. Bad that the better ones are going at the expense of the not so good ones!!. Still a lovely show isn't it?.

Thank you for your lovely wishes, unfortunately the hospital ☎️ to cancel Dec 4th appt!!. I'm so disappointed and just hope its re-arranged soon. Xx🐒💕🐒

I have started Azathioprine. Early days yet but not as bad as I feared. I guess the test will be with upping the dosage now for the next three weeks. I am also on high dose steroids so my leg pain is starting to ease at last. It has been a very hard year this year.

So sorry that your appointment was postponed lovely. I really hope that they reschedule quickly. It is so debilitating being in constant pain, it drags you down.

I am absolutely loving Strictly but so fed up of all the antics to keep Lete Wicks in. First the tears for his Grandmother, next the rubber pink trousers, this week Battersea Dogs Home. What the hell people are voting for him for is beyond me. I understand why people won’t vote for Montel, she is a beautiful dancer but arrogant. I was so sad to see Jamie go. He was so joyous to watch. My winner is still Sarah and Vito xxx

I am so pleased cecily, you've finally been put on a DMARD. 🤞that increasing the dose won't give you side effect problems!. What a TERRIBLE struggle you've had this year so thank goodness your leg pain is easing too. 🤞that Aza works soon too. Was it muscle pain or neuropathic pain?. I've also suddenly developed muscle pain which is debilitating!!. Thanx for your lovely wishes re my appt change. Its really hit me hard this time as didn't think i'd develop another trapped nerve. Its very PAINFUL and LOWERING. Back to wanting the ☎️ to ring!.

I totally agree with you on Strictly. Can't understsnd Pete Wick's's appeal as he's so miserable!!. My favs are Sarah and Vito and Tasha and Aliagz. Enjoy this weekend and i'll keep my 🤞that Aza works soon, lovely. Xx🐒💕

Thank you Misty. Honestly I do not think I have ever been in so much despair as I have this year. I haven’t been able to walk, go out very far, shop, garden, cook much at all. I have spent most of the year berating and begging for help and sadly very little was forthcoming. The rudeness and unhelpful manner of the Rheumatology nurses has astounded me . I have been told no wonder I get leg pain with the size of me and asked have I even heard of salads. They have all failed to find a cause of the leg pain but I have lost 70% of movement. I have never screamed with pain before but it broke me. Every time they put me on steroids within two weeks I can walk, I can stand for longer but they keep taking them off me. No amount of morphine or Gabapentin has helped. Physio couldn’t help, the Chiropractor said in all conscience she could not take my money as it wasn’t helping. Then they gave me laxatives and my bowel just stopped. I was in agony for nearly 3 weeks. The GP`s sent me to A&E who did nothing more that give me suppositories which did not work. My heart rate and BP was raised so high I was dizzy. No sleep for weeks on end. I just cried and raged but there was no help. The Bladder and Bowel nurse was so concerned about me 4 months ago she did an urgent referral to Colorectal . She rang me to check how I was regularly. I have yet to hear anything despite my GP emailing and writing twice. I just had to try the Aza. The test of the keg pain will be whether the pain relief is sustained when the steroids end. It worries me greatly.

I think either Tasha or Chris will win Strictly. Tasha is a beautiful Dancer and Chris is remarkable. Diane has achieved amazing results, I marvel at what he can do but on a personal level I don’t like him. My votes will still go for Sarah and Vito. The joy of their dancing lifts my spirits no end.

I really hope you hear something soon lovely. Constant pain is just so debilitating and saps the joy out of life xxx

I'm so SORRY cecily, you've had such a terrible year. I bet you can't wait for it to finish like i can't. I don't know how you've got thru it with the medical profession treating you so BADLY. There's no excuse for the Rheumy nurses treating you like that. I can fully understsnd how worried you are when the steroids stop. Its inflammatory pain for them to work. 🤞the Aza takes over and you'll still be ok!!.

Totally agree with you about Chris. I don't think he'll last the pace as he's finding it difficult now. There was talk of a special trophy for Dianne because of what she's achieved with him. Its amazing isn't it?. He looks like a normal dancer!. TAKE CARE lovely and thank you for your kind wishes. I'm keeping my 🤞for an appt. Xx🐒🤞

I’m so sorry about your foot nerve damage. I suffer from that in my back so I can relate. The pain is horrendous. 😱

Thanks for asking about my dad. He passed on 7 November. I will bury his cremains tomorrow at 1 PM. After I recover from the burial I will be on the site to update everyone and thank everyone for all the love and support they’ve given me. I was at my dad’s bedside for 4 days and nights until he drew his last breath. It was the most difficult thing I’ve been through. Here the nursing homes won’t allow bedrails because it’s considered restraining/abusive. The downside to this is when a patient is dying they often thrash around in their intense pain. Dad fell out of bed the second day there and I had to sit constantly at his bedside to put him back on the bed and one time I nodded off sitting next to him and he fell out on top of me and I caught his body and lowered it gently to the floor. It took 3 staff members (our Angels) to pick him up and place him back in the bed. Overall it was my honor and privilege to be at his side, his beck and call until his last breath. He was a wonderful dad, a great person everybody at the facility knew him and they all came in to tell him they loved him and said goodbye. It was very touching. My stepmom got to visit him twice they exchanged their love you s and held hands…it was precious to watch. He missed 3 days being exactly 95yo.

Take care my precious Misty.

Love and prayers

EJ 🤗♥️🥰🙏🕊🌿🌸🦋

I hope today went as well as it could honeybug. I did think of you. I'm in a similar situation as when my parents go , i will be alone with friends not relations helping. Sometimes our friends are closer to us than our relations because they want to be, no obligations!. My parents are in their late eighties , early nineties and very fit but i know it won't last and can change overnight!. Its lovely how you regard the forum and its lovely that we can give support to you as you've been very supportive of us!.

TAKE CARE dear honeybug as you don't want a flare. Xx🙏💕💐🦋🤞💕.

P.s, i got a ☎️ today from the hospital cancelling my foot appt. Hopefully it will be rearranged soon. Xx

Awwww…thank you so much sweet sis. Yes his burial was rain free (the sky was very overcast and rainy overnight misting on the drive there. Actually the rain held off until evening) and my dad’s instructions were to plant him in the ground with no fanfare/nothing. I did that as much as I could…but everyone loved him and I couldn’t for our sakes not do something to let us have closure. I read his favorite poem , played his favorite hymn , then read my eulogy to honor those closest to him also. After he was placed in the ground I took a handful of freshly dug Earth and gently broke it up while it so gently fell upon his urn/vault. I stepped back and let the groundskeeper start to fill the Earth in again. Then the 4 of us in attendance left to have a funeral meal together.

Although it was one of the hardest things I have ever done I managed to to stay stoic until the final few words of his eulogy. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since he passed. I’ve spent most of it recovering from the severe allergic reaction I suffered from dad’s hospice roommate leaving the windows open for the 4 days and nights that I stood vigil at dad’s bedside while everything I’m so very allergic to flowed freely into the airspace. I took two different antibiotics having allergic reaction to first one then that compounded the infection which I’m still battling residuals. I flared badly from the month of stress before he passed and of it from during and the dying process itself Compounded by the hour of CPR he endured after i informed the staff he’d passed. I got trapped inside the room because 10 total emergency personnel including EMTs all their equipment piled into that small space blocked my exit. This wasn’t supposed to happen to dad but someone in admitting forgot to get his signature for DO NOT RESUSCITATE that he requested. I had NO legal say in that horrific process.

I find myself Lost; he took such a large part of me with him. One of my flare reactions to stress is narcolepsy. I just can’t stop falling asleep nor stay awake when I should. It’s so frustrating but it’s my reality and I just have to wait until it’s run its course.

Thank you (and everyone on here) for helping me so much. I’m so blessed to have you all in my life. ♥️🤗

Oh NO sweetie; I’m SO very sorry about your foot cancellation again. I’m praying it will be back on schedule and happens with total success and quick healing.

You take care my precious sis. Luv u bunches hun. EJ 🤗♥️🥰🙏🕊💋

Lovely picture 🐯. There's such an amazing story about this little orangutan. He was born here in Dublin. His mum had already had 2 other babies who died because she didn't know how to look after them. When she was pregnant with this little fellow, the zoo put a call out for a group of human breastfeeding mums to come to the zoo & feed their babies on the other side of the glass, hoping she would learn from them as orangutans are so clever & mimic human behaviour! When he was born she looked after him really well based on what she had learned but unfortunately still couldn't feed him.

His dad was also called Sibu & was a great favourite at Dublin Zoo for many years - my daughter loved him & even has a cuddly toy called Sibu - but he died just before Sibu jnr was born. So glad to find out where he is now & that he's doing so well!

Good luck the the foot surgeon xx

misty14 profile image
misty14 in reply toSalzer

Dear Salzer, thank you so much for posting the background to his story. He is such a special orangutan as could easily have died like his siblings. Wonderful that he survived and is thriving and your daughter loved visiting him.

I do hope you are feeling less amazed and confused at your Rheumy visit outcome and you hear about the infusion clinic soon.

I got a ☎️ from the hospital this morning cancelling my Dec 4th Appointment. They will phone with a new date but just don't know when. Feel really disappointed and not a great start to the week. Take care. Xx
