Hi I suffer with scalp at times I don’t have lupus but I use nizarol shampoo or tee tree oil. My scalp gets itchy, sore and little scabby areAs with hair loss not in patches but thins and breaks leaving me a nest of sticking up bits on top of head,And this helps To ease the soreness and itching.

Best wishes

Hello. Yes, my scalp gets very red and itchy. I get dermovate scalp lotion from the doctor and it usually clears it up very quickly. Hope this helps.

Hi Pmeh. Sorry to hear about the mouth ulcers and scalp. I have Lupus and psoriasis but rarely get scalp involvement and have found Selsun shampoo - a selenium shampoo - helpful. it’s designed for seborrhoeic dermatitis and dandruff and cheaper than nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo, which is an anti fungal. If your scalp isn’t infected in any way then your GP could prescribe betnovate scalp application. My mother has discoid lupus on her scalp which has given her some scarring and hair loss and uses this from time to time. I think the reason she suffers so badly is she’s not good at wearing a hat outdoors - so I really recommend being meticulous about that, especially if your hair is thinning because the scalp will be more exposed than ever. Hope it settles soon.

Hello Pmeh, I am sorry to hear you are not well. I am also having a flare up. I have sores in my head and also mouth ulcers almost every week. Massive hair loss but I can see they are growing back at the top as i have small groups of spikes like a cartoon character. I drink beef broth, chicken broth every week and try to eat nuts and fish. But my stomach pain is killing me right now which I have not had over 4-5 years. Both my daughters also go through massive hair loss. I think it might be related to lack of exercise and lack of sun, but not sure. Mouth ulcers, I use bonjela cream and corsodyl morning and evening before bed time. Hope this helps and get well soon. Lx
