Mycophenolate - sore throat

How sore should your throat be before you stop taking mycophenolate? Taken pain killers and throat lozengers it eases but is sore to swallow. Didn’t want to bother the help line as I know they are so busy - Thank you

Kelbol1 - Please don’t stop your medication without talking to your doctor. Active lupus could be a bigger risk factor in infection complications than being on one medication.

Do you have a fever? Cough?

Don’t hesitate to call your GP or rheumatologist. Many are probably at their computers and ready to video conference with people just like you.

Take care.

Fever? Cough? Kay I was wondering the same thing. Hard not to right now. We just had two deputy sheriff’s die in the last few days in my county. Both stationed at the jail in my city where 11 inmates have tested positive, and 25 deputies. So sad☹️

So sad. Yes, everyone has to be on alert for symptoms, right?

in reply to KayHimm

Absolutely.

Btw, how are you?

No fever yesterday and today. So when all symptoms are gone, I get out of quarantine. They still don’t know how long people shed the virus. I do a lot needlepoint point Christmas door hangers!

How are you?

Again, I saw something about police officers in NYC being at great risk as quite a few had tested positive and thought of you.

Keep safe. Hope you have enough room to go into full shielding mode if required.

Good. I started with aches and a low fever and sore throat. Stay on top of it. Take your temperature often.

Good luck.

Please contact the rheumatology service for advice if you can’t use the helpline or GP service. As a patient on MMF you are classed as vulnerable. Don’t stop taking it until you seek advice. You need a medical review. Keep safe!

If it's just a sore throat then don't do anything. I would give it a few days. If it stays the same then just use throat lozenges and drink plenty.

If you get a fever and cough, then you need to speak to your GP or rheumatology helpline about whether to alter your medications. Don't call NHS24 unless you have breathing difficulties x
