Every since I have been diagnosed with Lupus. I constantly have a sore throat, and it's to the point it hurts to swallow, or talk. I asked my rheumatologist is their something to help with this, but only suggestion is throat drops that does nothing for me. Does anyone else have any tips for severe throat pain?

Severe Sore Throat
How long ago was your lupus diagnosed? My feeling is that persistent soreness anywhere in complex patients with systemic illness needs to be discussed with a primary care provider, i.e. GP or gp nurse practitioner, after a rheumatologist shrugs the soreness off as yours has...
Really, it's our "general practitioner" who should have a broad enough basic grasp of all body "systems" to advise us on lifestyle management and, if that doesn't clear up the soreness, to take the decision to refer us for secondary care @ a hospital clinic....in your case, I'd think ENT
Hope something in there helps

Hi,
Unfortunately I haven't got a remedy suggestion but just to let you know that I regularly have a bright red sore throat. It usually gets worse in the evening so I've adjusted my shifts accordingly. It's sad but I've learnt to live with it and take paracetamol if it's really bad. A throat antiseptic spray eases it a little too. Just so you know you not alone with this. There aren't many people I know diagnosed with Lupus who suffer with a sore throat but those of us who do know how frustrating it is!!
