Hi there. I find that a sore throat is usually the first indication that I am going into a flare. They are often followed by an aching body and fatigue. Flu like symptoms are aparently very common with Lupus. I keep a handy supply of throat lozenges nearby just in case and rest usually sorts it's out.
Love the picutre.

Yes, I get exactly what you are describing. Its amazing that so many of us get all these symptoms.
Sadly i agree with Jude, there are soooo many of us with very similar symptoms and yet again I truly applaud the perosn that started this group as it helps so many of in so many different ways, not least....having some one to talk yo that isnt too close emotionally as I know it pouts a strain on my kids etc if i tell em I dont feel well all the time.
anyway.....yes I often suffer from a very dry sore throat....in facgt it feels like I have swallowed razor blades sometimes, this is usually followed by a complete loss of my voice for a few days, I have been told that my vocal chords become enflamed so therefore dont work too well xx
Hi
I'm 55 and as far back as I can remember I would get a sore throat my body would ache the next day nothing, that has been happening all my life. I was told I had SLE 2half years ago, makes me wonder. keep well
Regrettably I also agree with Jude & Mandie and it is nice that we can share experiences and symptoms and no that we are not alone in feeling the way that we do.
It has got to a stage that my partner knows now just by looking at me or talking to me on the phone that I am unwell or in a flare. But she has been my rock in all this and I am so grateful to her for her continues help and putting up with me being grump when my pain is so bad.
This is similar to my experience also. I have a very dry mouth from lupus so, on a good day, my throat is dry and my voice is rough-sounding. It gets much worse just before the body aches increase. Often I lose my voice at that point for a couple of days. (Tests for strep throat are always negative.)
This forum is helping me so much! I only joined about a month ago. It is a place where I learn about the everyday symptoms of lupus and how to manage them. Unfortunately, I go to a rheumatologist who hasn't the patience to hear about small symptoms and only tells me they are not related to lupus when I know that they are! It is so good to have this forum to reassure me that I am right about what my body is trying to tell me!
Thank you to everyone who contributes and who makes this forum possible!
hi yes im never away from docs for antbiotics for my throat. been on going for years they say cause off the immune system being run down etc.....so think its all to do with the sle.
My Lupus doctor tells me these are symptoms of Lupus. I get redness at the back of my throat on and off all the time and that feeling of malaise that makes you feel tired all day. Rest is best thats what I've discovered x
Not only do I get sore throats but I use to lose my voice - once completely - that hasn't happened for a while though.

Loosing my voice for 2 weeks then a sore throat fro 6-8 hrs was what started my Lupus off in Feb 2011, was only diagnosed in June, so still very much in the learning curve of this illness, I have noticed that I do get a niggle of a throat but its not sore. but these don't seem to have any pattern of being before during or after a flare up
