The bulk on my pain is my jaw not my teeth at all . Jaw hurts when trying to chew as well . I read online that a lot of people and that problem after . They took the painkillers given regular . I'm going to take the co-codamol regular tomorrow to see if it helps. A lady at work I spoke to suggest I don't go into tomorrow. Do you guys think that's best ? Maybe try and go back to work on Thursday ?

I think the pain relief is a good idea. I see in your post about driving that walking made your jaw feel tender, and obviously you have a physically demanding job. It's hard for me to advise you, but I think if the lady from work has suggested another day off then I'd take her advice. Waiting til Thursday might help avoid problems? Hope it heals soon x

Give yourself another day LouLamb to get yourself proper uaQfit.

I dont know what your sickness record is like at work but its the number of occasions you're off work not the number of days that you are actually, off sick.so you could stay off work till next week and not incur any further penalties.

See how you feel in the morning.

I didn't go in today . I spoke to a lady I work with and she said don't go in to me . She said it will be a lot of effort to do if your not 100% . I am going back Monday .

The jaw pain is still there . The chewing is getting better . It's just because I can't move food to either side of my mouth . I am eating solid food but slowly . I really want some crisps

I think if you are in pain another day of work might help . You probably have bruising from the work carried out that is making your jaw sore . It should settle down in a few more days , a ice pack might help xx

Thank you . I'm just not really sure when it comes to taking time off work . I'll see how a full day of regular painkillers tomorrow effect me and see how I am Thursday . I think when I can eat normally again I'll be fine . At the moment I'm not eating lots so am quite weak .

My lupus actually started in my jaw, I totally understand how u feel. Try not to eat hard food and stick to soft food.. painkillers should settle the pain..just takes time.

I think the one thing I've learned in life, is that health is far more important than work!

I am retired and, to be honest, I do regret not having given in to my illnesses and having not taken some more time off. I got no award for keeping going, no gong for turning up every shift, although my body was screaming at me not to. Yes, we all have bills to pay but, there are no prizes for being the hardest worker in the grave yard. I am sure my "devotion to duty" has made my long term condition worse and, from a health perspective, has cost me dear.

I am sure your employer will survive if you don't turn up once in a while, unless you're self employed of course, if you feel your work is aggravating your medical condition, then consider a new career, as I say, NOTHING is more important than your health. I would, if I could swap, take health over wealth every time.

I have come to that conclusion as well . Health is far more important . There are other jobs other ways to survive . I am going back to work tomorrow . I'll see how I do if I need to go home I will .

You may well be clenching your jaws or grinding your teeth; I have had experience of jaw clenching and the resulting pain can be excruciating. A bite guard could well be the answer. You could even just get the type children wear for games and wear at night time.e

I do have TMJ as well . I think the surgery has aggravated it . I'm taking the pain killers given to me by hospital now regular .

I didn't go in today. I'm giving it another day . I will be trying tomorrow . I can open my mouth a bit wider today so finger crossed eating might be better !
