Mouth ulcers

I know they are a part of this all, but mine are so random, different shapes, colours, come and go....does anyone know of anything to make them go away or at least not hurt? It started with an entire mouth full and I was unable to eat or drink for over a week. Now it is the odd one or two. Thanks

This may seem an odd suggestion, but I find eating salt and vinegar crisps helps! Worth a try anyway. Hope you get relief by whatever means

I swear by Biotene mouth wash and toothpaste. Also you can get biotene gel. Some doctors will give it on prescription. An Oral consultant suggested it once and it helps so much. Doesn't stop altogether but I get less. Xx

There was a product called Adcortyl which was a thick orabase cream and steroid. This was like magic and would stop the pain overnight. Your dentist or doctor can prescribe it still. although you cannot buy it over the counter now. I suffered this problem for a long time, and it was miserable, but mine have improved since taking 10mg of steroid daily..

mouthulcers.co.uk has something similar.Hope you find something to help.

Thanks guys, sorry but I still work so don't have as much time to spend on the site. I appreciate the advice. Funny enough I had a friend years ago swear by Biotene! Have not seen it for years. I will try all of the suggestions and let you know what worked for me. Thanks again ;-)

50mg betnesol soluble tablets on prescription help me I get very sore gums with oral lychen planus which is to do with my immune system - you can get these on prescription and you just disolve it in water and keep it in your mouth for 5 minutes, no pain or discomfort. Good luck x

I totally agree with GillyG! Biotene is the only thing that worked for me... I swapped to the toothpaste and mouthwash for a few months and it really made a difference. Definitely worth a try. Good luck! x

Hi I get chronic mouth ulcers sometimes but when I do my G.P. prescribes Hydrocortisone muco adhesive buccal tablets 2.5mg, they are brilliant and all the ulcers will be gone within a week even when they have been big enough to cover the inside of my mouth and stop me eating. They take the pain out of the ulcers too after a couple of uses which makes a great deal of difference.

Good luck I hope you find something that works for you
