Feeling defeated after IVF chemical pregnancy

Really feeling bad as my IVF doctor did not practice APS treatment protocol for my 2nd IVF that resulted in chemical pregnancy at 6 weeks. The doctor only introduce baby aspirin despite the fact I was tested twice high reading (3 months interval) for APS. Now after discussion with the IVF doctor and mostly from our own research, my next IVF treatment will be 100mg baby aspirin, 40ml clexane, 200mg plaquenil, 10mg prednisolone. The doctor also want to introduce Intralipid. Though I think the doctor is willing to change protocol to help us succeed, I was pretty upset and traumatised when the clinic’s consultant said ‘the doctor will not be responsible for me because of the high medicine dosage. Not sure if I should continue with them but I still have 2 embryos left and so far the doctor is quite understanding. 😢

Thanks for the offer. I’m located in Malaysia. Unfortunately not much support for APS in Asia. It seems that most doctors are not familiar with this condition. We have seen private and public hospitals/clinic and have heard conflicting and different views - one doctor claim that I most likely will not benefit from any APS treatment for pregnancy/IVF as she said I don’t have any symptom though tested positive for APS twice. Very confusing.

Here are medical papers out of Malaysia, maybe contacting the hospitals and the names on them: e-mjm.org/2012/v67n4/Antiph...

Thanks for the info. Will look through and probably explore consulting another specialist in Singapore instead.

Oh yes, I meant 40mg clexane. Actually still deciding between 40mg to 60mg as worried that lower dose will not be effective. My IVF doctor said only one of his patient has used clexane so not able to give me much advice. In fact, the above treatment plan was derived from IVF doctor, gynae, Rhematologist and many research via website and me and DH come up with the treatment protocol plan.

Specialist?

Unfortunately I couldn’t find any specialist in Malaysia and for a private specialist in Singapore is about S$14,000 (£7900) just for blood test and medicine treatment for APS in relation to IVF/Pregnancy.

I used 40mg of clexane, 10mg prednisalone and had three rounds of intralipids for each pregnancy (just before transfer, 8 weeks and then 12 weeks) when going through IVF. When I had no treatment two rounds failed- I went privately and they prescribed the same treatment for both rounds and I have a little girl who is 19 months and I am 38 weeks pregnant with baby girl number 2. I wouldn’t have any treatment without it now x

Thanks for letting me know. Really appreciate your reply and also having support and advice from this support group. For my Intralipid, my IVF doctor suggested 2 times only - 10 to 14 days before transfer and then upon BFP.

I suppose different clinics have different protocols- intralipids aren’t cheap here Either - i paid £350 each time. But I think it’s worth the money considering it’s only a fraction of the cost of IVF.

Wish you luck with all treatment x
