We can offer each other some help, support and advice here in healthy eating too
Great ! I find the weigh in helps keep me focused x
Hello Lytham how much weight do you lose every month please? My opinion on losing weight is to eat a healthy balanced diet with adequate exercise. So I'm interested if your weight loss is consistent because of the daily diary and the weigh in.
Food and exercise wise I practice what I preach and my BMI is between 20 and 21 and I have a very healthy attitude to food and like my food and I have lots of energy.
I hope you have a nice day and your weight is gradually coming down. π
Hmm I think I average aprrox 2lb a month? I'm sure it's down to healthy eating, fasting, exercise, low carb and the support and advice from the weigh in and the Daily Diary.
You can't have too many tools in the box! x
Hey 2lbs a month sounds ideal to me, you're welcome to give our members your tips on healthy eating and losing weight.
I agree about the more life skills we have to help us have healthy well being is essential.
Fasting is a fantastic way for some people to lose weight but an LCHF diet doesn't appeal to me at all as my body doesn't absorb fat well so its like an unbalanced diet to me but if it helps reverses type 2 diabetes then it has a place.
On HE we work with the diabetic groups to try and help reduce and prevent pre diabetes.
Veganism works for many as well and I love lots of plant based healthy foods
Keep your weight loss constant and you will be an active advocate of HE. π
Thank you, I think I particularly like lchf (not just that the food is gorgeous) but I don't feel hungry and that has always led me to throwing the towel in, in the past x
Tommy Cooper was asked if he likes food and he said of course I do, it's all I eat so I'm glad that an LCHF diet works for you.
I have a neighbour who doesn't feel satiated and can just keep eating and they've gone gluten free vegan and were telling me how good fasting was. Being a coeliac on a restricted diet I can't see why anyone would go GF out of choice so it's what works for us.
My worry with many WL programs is they don't last and they end up being on a diet for the rest of their lives... π
I see what you're saying but I've been doing lchf for almost two year and don't see it as a diet and would quite happily eat like this forever, I'm not going hungry, I don't feel deprived, I'm getting to eat lots of lovely food and I'm losing weight. Win, win I just wish I'd known about it years ago, it could have prevented a lifetime of yo-yo diets, weight gain and misery!
I'll be eternally grateful to everyone for pointing me in the right direction and if I can help just one person, I'll be happy! x

Steroids can make it quite hard to lose weight, you have my sympathies! Could it be water retention?
An issue with steroids is that they interfere with your gut bacteria so I'd suggest considering a gut supporting diet (e.g. rainbow diet) and perhaps supplementing with probiotics.
If it's something you can afford, then I always highly recommend working with a nutritionist too. You might find there are supplements and dietary changes that you can make long term that could let you stop taking steroids altogether. Trialing a period without gluten, dairy, soya and sugar can be a good first step
Hi lilac i understand how you feel, i may not have rheumatoid arthritis but my mum has and i have seen the pain and anguish she is going through.I also have my weight gone up to 21 stone and i need to lose it so message me anytime and maybe we can help each other.
In these times snacking is a problem but i have tried and change some of my snacks to celery dips and carrots dips and fine with an apple cut up it is far better than the pizza and crisps i usually snack with.
Look forward to your reply
Hi Lilac57
A warm welcome to the Healthy Easting Forum, it's a supportive community, and I hope you'll enjoy participating here.

Unfortunately, steroid use does make you gain weight,
Chat with your GP, and tell him you want to lose weight. It will be hard unless you can come off them.
Cheers, Midori
Good morning Lilac57 and welcome to our friendly community. Really you want to eat a healthy balanced diet and combine that with an exercise regime tailored to your needs.
The importance of eating a healthy balanced diet is our bodies are well nourished as sadly far too many over weight people are over fed and undernourished so if you make healthy choices and restrict your plate size your body is now ready to lose weight.
Fasting helps as you are restricting meal times and give your body a chance to form a new relationship where you don't feel the need or desire to over eat or eat empty calories.
