Finding vitamin D3 is easy in my country but finding Vitamin K2 is very hard so i had to buy online and will be shipped from the US.
Problem is, in such haste i didnt check the ingredients and only believing it’s label saying gluten free and vegan with v caps. Turns out it has carrageenan. In fact i even found some organic food containing carrageenan.
Its 180 vcaps bottle and kind of expensive can i even consume it (short term 4 weeks or long term finishing the whole bottle) or just better give it a toss in the bin?
Ive read online about carrageenan but it has mixed reviews. Anyone here has been taking supplements with carrageenan?

It's something I'd tend to avoid, though it would be a pity to waste the supplements you've bought. I've seen several D3/K2 supplements on sale, so check the ingredients when you choose your next batch as there are a few different brands available.
I get my K2 from fermented foods, mostly kefir every day which I make myself, & I've started eating tempeh regularly. Several folks on here make sauerkraut, so would be able to advise you on that should you want to try it. There might be some options for other foods available where you live.
Aha.... good one, i should really read the ingredients than just trusting the labels. Learnt my lesson.. but at least im saved now and wont be repeating the same mistake for next order. Thank you so much for your kind advice.
I also have subclinical hypothyroid so trying to avoid anything soy and i cant stand kimchi so must be the same case with sauerkraut i guess or or not. maybe i should try them again.. but kefir sounds doable to me. Will google more on it.
I love tofu, so have swapped to tempeh which I like as much. Kefir is great, & there are water kefir grains available, as well as the dairy type I make.
Oh no.. thats bad.. we learnt the hard way sometimes but at least we get to learn 😁
Yeah.. i am.thats the first forum i joined in because i need help with my thyroid blood result. Tsh 2.93 Doc refused to write me any meds but i feel horrible and gaining weight etc etc so i seek help online.humanity restored kind of moment because people in here are so very kind and helpful.
I love crispy tempeh..yummm. Hope i can eat soy after 3 months ☺️
Water kefir grains seems good for mex sounds ‘quicker and easier too’ hehe will definitely give it a try
If you are hypo, you'll need to avoid unfermented soy forever, sorry!
Tempeh, miso, tamari, etc, are fine. I became really poorly & gained weight from eating tofu & soy milk every day, so I learned the hard way. My thyroid medication didn't work effectively until I removed unfermented soy from my diet.
Have you tried doing the Barnes basal body temperature test? Your doctor won't pay attention, but it'll help confirm if you're hypothyroid.
Water kefir will still need to ferment, though I think it it doesn't take any less time than dairy, & either are very easy to maintain.
Yes it does. But for vitamin D deficiency sufferer i need to take vit D in high dose for few weeks and vitamin K2 will help to balance out the the high dosage (im taking 10000iu vit D3 daily)
and i have a gut problem so i think my body doesnt absorb nutrition well hence might be lacking/producing enough vit K2
It's another nutrient that's created by bacteria, so perhaps the body produces some if the gut is healthy: vitamindcouncil.org/dr-cann...
"It seems that it could be the case that modern humans are deficient in K2 because they do not eat large quantities of vitamin K1 containing foods. If we look at Paleolithic humans, they probably got high amount of vitamin K2 from eating large quantities of kale and spinach-like foods, very high in K1, which then supplied their tissues with all the vitamin K2 they needed."
Being female in my 50's, I'm taking no chance with my bone health, & I get my K2 from kefir, as well as probiotics. I still don't absorb B12 well, despite high dietary intake.
If you can get a culture it has a wider range of microflora that make it more resistant to our digestive system than the commercial type, which usually only has lactobacillus. Lots of information here: healthunlocked.com/healthye...
