I was triggered today and it really knocked me of tilt. I can't focus or do any of my hobbies. I feel numb and hopeless and irritable. I don't know how to stop this negative spiral. I'm so frustrated and also wish I could disappear. I already spoke with 988 in the US. I just wish the upset would go away.

Thank you for the reply. I have been trying to do grounding. I guess the difficult part is that it is lasting all day long and I'm exhausted from it.

I'm sorry you were triggered and the effects are lingering. This is so hard to get through

I'm glad you reached out to 988. This is a sign of strength. Knowing when we need help and not trying to " go it alone " is the safest approach

I am so sorry you have been triggered, Lilmissbitty.It is very tough to function through that. It is good that you reached out to the helpline, it is not easy to reach out for help but it's a sign of strength.

There are ways to get through a triggered state. Perhaps creating a list can help to have it on hand and see which things are helping.

I do puzzles that engage my thinking and solving skills so it helps bring my thinking back from a triggered state.

I try to watch a movie or read something to put my mind into another direction and that can help in the moment.

It really depends on the type of trigger, sometimes I need to be around people, other times I need time alone. Generally reaching out helps.

Music can help too.

I have colouring books and I particularly like mandalas.

I know it is very hard to pull out of this state and that's why having help makes a huge difference.
