DCM Genetic Test
My son has recently been diagnosed with DCM and I came across some info suggesting first degree relatives should be referred to a specialist clinic to be checked out. The BHF apparently will provide a letter to your GP to support this referral. How does this work. Will there be a fee for the letter?

Mody type 10
Since my C-peptide level is still quite high and I have no antibodies, a
genetic
test
for MODY was done. It turns out I have MODY Type 10 (INS), which seems to be a very rare form of MODY. Is anyone else here with Type 10?

Got a copy of my Tempest test. My MO says "No actionable results" meaning plan of action doesn't change (Triplet Therapy). He also stated I had nothing to pass on to my son as far as hereditary gene problems. I have no clue what any of it means. DNA mismatch expression (normal) Homologous recombination

New Post, community only please
One of my adult daughters had PEs in pregnancy, horrific treatment from hospital, which was minutes from losing both my daughter and her baby (at 39 weeks) I'm now waiting to have a
genetic
test
for APs as I was originally told it was not
genetic

New FDA approved genetic test to predict the chance of opioid addiction
I am concerned about the new
genetic
test
AvertD just approved by the FDA https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2024/03/25/dna-test-opioid-addiction/ It uses DNA to predict whether a person is likely to get addicted to opioids.

Von Hippel Lindau Syndrome
He told me that the hospital still had my tumor and he requested a
genetic
test
on the sample. Sure enough, I tested positive for VHL. I am one of the lucky ones that accidentally for the kidney tumors during a CT scan for something unrelated.

Genetic test positive
In November 2023 my iron labs were increased. Ferritin 117 TSAT 58 my doctor said we would retest in six month and do genetic testing but wasn’t concerned. My results just came in and it showed homogenous for H63D. I haven’t been able to speak with him yet. I am extremely scared.

Blue Horizon Thyroid Genetic Test results
Afternoon, My Blue Horizon Thyroid Genetic Panel results have arrived after a long wait and I’d appreciate some help understanding them. I undertook the test to check my DIO1 and DIO2 status, both of which appear ‘normal’ (no inherited defects). However, three variants are flagged up in either red

Genetic Testing for cholesterol and insurance
Hi The only
test
I have outstanding is a
genetic
test
for familial hypercholeserolmia (high cholesterol) . I was told that insurers shouldn’t ask for genetic testing but looking into it FH is considered to be an illness and diagnostic tests can be disclosed.

After Four Cycles of Ra-223
He also ordered another
genetic
test
from a different company other than Gardiant 360 to see if any new mutations will show up. Then he suggested that I give LU-177 a try.. that's when I kinda lost it..!!

I found out as hubby bought me a Family history
genetic
test
as a present and it included health DNA results.

Clear Cell - Endometrial vs Genetic
I am told that they believe my CCOC was caused by endemetriosis so I am not being offered a
genetic
test
. If I don't have BRACA1 or 2 gene, does that mean treatment is limited should I recur?

Update following meeting with MO
Firstly, the
genetic
test
of the liver tumour the NHS do only tests for BRCA - no other genes. The reason appears to be that the only treatment they would offer is a Parp inhibitor so there's no point testing for anything else.
