Back pain: Any tips on easing back... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Back pain
Dear Sharne,
Have you ever tried using a prescribed pain relief cream called Capasacin Cream, I personally found it very helpful.
Capasacin cream is known to reduce Substance P , a substance which is excitable when you feel pain. Research has shown that people with Fibromyalgia have 3 times the amount of Substance P than healthy people do.
I found it very beneficial and thought I would mention it out of interest. Link below

Please be aware that for people that are sensitive to medications, this may be something that should be avoided. Capasacin is made from Capiscum pepper and you must be careful when using avoiding eyes as it is similar to pepper spray.
I hope the pain eases soon
Emma
Do you know what is causing your back pain? Whilst Fibro causes pain in any part of the body, predictable, regional or localised pain often has another or associated cause. For example, you may have a spinal problem as well as Fibro, or you may have Myofascial Pain as part of your Fibro and it is this that is causing the pain.
Identifying the exact cause of the pain means that treatments can be targeted. Accurate and comprehensive (i.e. identify everything) diagnosis is vital to good symptom management with Fibro, because it is so common for someone with Fibro to have multiple conditions.
Do you think it's nerve or muscular in origin? Can you describe it?
Well I use trigger point massage. Basically lie on top of a tennis ball or similar and move around until you feel you are on 'the spot' - ie., you can feel what is called an exquisite pain, an extreme pain but it is bearable. Then move around a bit on the tennis ball, so that you are massaging the spot. You might find it helps at once, but you might have to repeat it several times. See Clare Davies Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. The other thing I do is use a TENS machine, which really helps me.
I have just been prescribed the same cream as Mdaisy by the Pain Management Dr at the Hospital. He also advised I buy a Tens machine. They can do injections and he also sending me for acupuncture at the physio department. Ask Your GP if he will refer you to the Pain Management Clinic. Mine advised me not to use orimorph something to do with it causing problems with the transfer of signals for pain. He said avoid Morphine. I have tramadol. He stressed to try and excercise through the pain. I wouldn't advise excercise without getting your GPs opinion on the origin of the pain first. Hope this is some help.
I sometimes use a heat lamp. It eases the ache, I find that combined with tramadol and paracetamol helps. I hope you find something that eases the pain. Take care.
relaxation techniques and pacing yourself, learning what activities you can do for how long you can do them without making your pain worse. On a good day avoid wanting to complete all those activities you have wanted to do for ages, if you do, then its possible to overdo things, exacerbate the pain, then turn to rest, medication and inactivity, then we have gone from a good day to all of a sudden a bad day.
