Not been on for a while been too depressed. Well had not reall inclination to see this councillor. How wrong was I.

This lady was doing my life map, how many stressful events in my life. Hmm she had a lot of writing to do. She also looked at the symptoms I have and not knowing about firbo I pointed out most of them are fibro as well as depression and that depression itself is a symptom. She said I am not supprised your depressed if you feel like that daily and have had the life you have had.

The upshot is that she is going to research fibro before our next apt to see if there is any help she can get for me in regard to the fibro and support and maybe swimming sessions etc. Now that is what I call a good result. Someone who listens and deals with it all not just their bit of a problem, holistic approach.

I'm very much for the holistic approach to a person when it comes to health care, It's a relief to know there are still some professionals out there who are willing to listen & advise, by looking at you as a person & not just a number & by seeing the solution rather than the problem... it does bring back some faith in the health sector & is refreshing to know...

There is no doubt going to the pool helps - BUT - for me expensive - unable to travel by bus - use scooter but pool is too far to go to on scooter which means I have to use Taxi. To which I find too expensive especially when I have other appointments to keep using Taxis. Anyone got an answer for free rides!!!!

That's so good to hear! I have seen a few counsellors over the years and my last one has been by far the best because of her ability to empathise even though she doesn't have fibro. She made me feel cared about again. I am now training to be a counsellor myself and hope to bring he same empathy to my own clients in years to come. Good luck with it.

Thanks everyone it really do feel like a positive step. It is the cost of swimming that prevents me from going regularly to circuit runner. We do have a dial a ride service here but I suppose I sort of don't think I should use it as I can get to bus stop on a good day. I have joined a craft group as councillor said I shoud get out and meet people and although it costs a bit I went yesterday and laughed for three hours which did do me good.
