Hello lovely people

I’ve been on Tramadol for over 5 years now and fibro just getting worse. GP has now given me a regime to come off Tramadol and has prescribed Pregabalin. I’m happy about this but wanted to know people’s experience of Pregabalin - does it work well for you 🤞🏻 I’m also on 50mg Amitriptyline and wear Lidocaine patches in the day along with wireless TENS. Need all of this to be able to work full time.

Thank you 😊🙏🏻

Good evening/ Good morning (after midnight)

I started on the Pregabalin in march 2016, I climbed up to a staggering 300mg, The only thing I noticed the side effect was gaining weight and not helping with pain relief at all,

I know you don't put weight on without putting food in my mouth, I am a fool for not changing the way I ate and what I ate, My mobility had suffered quickly with scaitica and a previous back injury put all my gym to a much lower attendance then a stop, I should of really adjusted my diet too,😋😋😋😋 Not rocket science😮‍💨

Then I was prescribed with tramadol from 50mg and gradually worked up to 400mg a day and still find myself curled in a corner biting my bed sheet in fear of waking my Hubby and neighbours often in the 7-9 pain level 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭,

My GP is looking at some different things to try, I already went to the pain clinic and they referred me to a phy/cologist(soz) and I just plod on, I'm still on the highest dose of Tramadol and can't see myself coming down to a lower dose,

A lot of people would say I am addicted to it, I say we each have a limit and all are entitled to say their opinion,

I also take

Amitriptyline 100 at night

Dihydrocodeine modified-release 12omg,

I still only sleep for a few hrs a night until the pain wakes me again,

The rest of my meds are for other things, I pray that one day there will a cure, Until then I hope you find your meds that suit you best

Take care and best wishes to you

Hi Debs

Thank you so much for your very detailed reply. It’s what I fear with Pregabalin - putting on weight and maybe not having the pain relief.

I’ve been on 150mg Tramadol for past 4 years + but wanted to try something else as pain getting worse. Been to pain clinic had steroid injections in chest for costocondritis and then all they kept saying was to go part time at work but I can’t afford to 😫.

I feel guilty for my husband as don’t go out in the evening anymore as too exhausted and in too much pain.

I just hope one day someone will come up with a cure but before that - gentle hugs to you and all fellow sufferers of this horrible, horrible disease 🤗🤗 xx
