Hi, does anyone have any feedback on pregabalin? My dr wants to try me with this but am really worried about weight gain. The more I put on the more pain in my joints! I am on amitrip, codeine, paracetamol, fluoxetine and co proxamal when needed, I have tried tramadol with little success and am having a terrible time with nerve pain just now.

Hi

I was on pregabalin for some 6 months. I had to fight to get to try it as its not a cheap drug. I did find that any of the drugs they gave me made me have a hunger not known to me and I did put on weight. Pregabalin worked to start with after some trials, and I managed to increase the dose to near maximum slowly. The pain subsided considerably but my vision was effected and I couldnt drive. After a major stress attack (dealing with DWP tribunal, atos, losing my long term job etc) the pain was so high I could not believe that the pregabalin was actually doing anything. I came off it. My appetite is back to its low level and some 3 months later I have lost well over a stone. The pain in nerves is still the same. It works for some and may work for you, especially if you watch what you eat like a hawk whilst on it. I only stopped it as it stopped removing nerve pain after 6 months so there was no point for me. my advice is try it and see.

Good luck :) NN

Hi

I did try this drug and never noticed any weight gain, but the drug didn't help me and gave me terrible allergies so I had to stop it.

Hello

It's a very good at pain control, and it depends, pain or weight gain

And not every one will put on weight google it and see the side effects

But reading them does not mean that you will put on weights I suppose

That if you feel better then you may eat more and it maynot be the drug

At all

Pregabillan is the update of gavapentin is meant to be better

Sorry about the spelling

Hi , i`ve been on Pregabalin for 2 years , i take 600mg a day which hasn`t given me any problems with weight gain. I also wear a Bu-Trans patch (20mg) which i change weekly, Topirimate twice a day, Amitriptyline at night and Buprenorphine when needed for breakthrough pain. I have found this cocktail of medication to be the best for me and with the least side-effects. I lost my job just over 2 years ago because of my health but was only diagnosed with fibro 6 weeks ago ! i think everyone is different with what medication works best - its a case of try it and see. Good luck , hope it works for you x
