Taking the plunge ...

Hoping to lose some of my excess weight to help my poor body and reduce the pain. I don't think been overweight and having fibro are good companions.

Well Today Is The Day The Folks. I Am A Great Believer In Healthy Eating And Slow Weight Loss. I Think We All Need To Find The Way That Works For Us. We Are Not All The Same. We Do Not All Like Or Eat The Same Foods. So No One Eating Plan Is Going To Suit Everyone. And Given The Fact Many Have Health And Mobility Problems Weight Loss Will Be Slower For Some Than For Others. Not To Mention Many People Also Take Medication That Can Actually Increase A Persons Appetite. All I Would Say If You Are Starting Out On A Healthy Eating And Weight Loss Program Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself. There Will Be Good Days And Bad Days. Great Weeks And Horrible Weeks.

It's Not The End Of The World To Be A Bit Up And Down For The First Few Weeks Or Even Months. Your Mind Not Only Your Body Needs To Get Used To The New Way Of Eating And Even Tasting Food Again.

Breakfast Today Was Grapes Which I Love And 2 Crumpets. I Don't Use Butter I Use Flora. I Love Butter But It Doesn't Like Me. On The Plus Side Flora Is Less Calories And Healthier So I Am Lead To Believe And I Like The Taste.

Have a good day everyone xx

Great post , really hits the nail on the head.Good luck with the weight loss.

Don't forget even if your portions are smaller , still remember to make food a pleasure not a punishment and you'll get there in the end ...... And may even find a new Diet For Life.

Take care , Bee

I read your title and thought you were going to try and brave the sea like I hope to today.Although it will probably only be a paddle , it should be hot for once and I love being able to get away from it on the beach.

I wish you all the luck, Momo, just a little tip, I learned from all my nutritionists, normal butter, the body knows how to get rid of it, where as low fat spread, the body doesn’t know what to do with it???, but you do what you feel is best for you. Xx

Thanks blue ,I don't eat butter because dairy upsets me. Flora is plant based not low fat. Been eating for years so it's all good 👍

To be honest, I’m the same, they can give us all the advice, but we know what we can tolerate.

Go Momo Go, as you know I’ve managed to lose quite a bit. The most useful advice I was given was the intermittent fasting regime. A clear 12 hours with nothing to eat. Drink only water or black/green/fruit teas or black coffee or water. It was a struggle to remember it a first but as the 12 hours is mainly sleep for most folk. I’m now on 16-8 which has put my diabetes into remission😁. Yes I fell off the wagon a couple of times but I’m only human😂 just had to climb back on and put the slip behind me. Good luck keep us posted

Hi Dinkie, how does the fasting work? I've been wanting to lose weight so much as I've put on loads since I have not been as mobile as I was due to neuropathy in my feet and fibromyalgia. The weight gain is really getting me down as I can't exercise all that much due to the pain I have so I definitely need a good diet. I'm T1, which fasting diet would you recommend? TIA x

It was the diabetes nurse who advised it. Apparently the body goes into starvation bode and starts to burns body fat after about ten hours. I would ask the diabetes team if it is suitable for you as with all things one size does not fit all. Portion sizes as ever are important but my HbA1c went from 69 to 38 in three months and 15kg lost. Weight loss has continued to a point now where movement whilst still painful is easier. Can't say I have really struggled with the lifestyle change. can't call it a diet because it's for life! I haven't even been tempted by the treat box I have here for the grandchildren which is a bonus. I do change it about a bit depending on whether it's a work day or not as that alters the eating window somewhat but I still manage at least 12 hours and my aim is 16. There's lots on the internet about it. Please however take medical advice before embarking on it.

The 12/14 hrs fast is my norm mostly. My last meal of the day is usually about 6pm then that's me until roundabout 8am . Some days do change but not often.

I have never been a late evening eater or snacker. So just need to sort the rest of the hours out LOL.

I'm sure you can do it. The fast also includes no drinks except the black coffee/water/some fruit tea and black or green tea with no milk. I used to love a bedtime milky drink but apart from that it's been ok. May help using a smaller plate, I did it to adjust to the new portion sizes, and had to stop myself just piling the food up like a mountain😆

I love this post. Keep us up-to-date with your progress maybe every month? We are all behind you and perhaps this is will be the encouragement some of us need. There is a relationship between food and some of the problems we face. As others have said 'We just have to find what works best for our body. 👊

Hi Momo, I went the whole life style change to healthy eating, the ultimate wellness program which work great for weight loss. I loss over 50lbs but develop this weird very intense PAIN in my right upper back and problems with orthostatic hypotension and low blood sugar drops. This aging thing hasn’t been a good thing my body adapted to. Long story short and 3 MRI’s, 2 scans and other tests, playing musical doctors being sent back to the neurologist, new pain clinic, and other doctors I had already been to a year later I still don’t know what is causing these symptoms. It gets very frustrating because it affects my quality of life and I really don’t have any idea of what is going on. I put it in God’s hands but keep picking it back up again. Today has been a long trying day and I am sleepy now. So I need to go to bed. Yes we all react differently to differently to different weight loss diets. The key is what works best for our bodies with little to no adverse effects. This is a hard thing to deal with this fibromyalgia and company. 😴😴😴🛌🌙✨Hope you all have a good nights rest.🤗💕💜🕊️

If I had to guess I would say losing 50lb may be the problem for the pain. Sounds daft I know lol. But my theory is for some if not everyone the body has to adjust to losing a lot of weight. The same way it had to adjust to carrying excess weight around with us and that means pain.

Again my thoughts on low BP that maybe to the new way of eating and the weight loss. These things do tend to help people who have high BP lower it .

I myself have high BP so know from personal experience what helps me to keep it steady. But I am not medically trained and these are just my own personal thoughts and experiences.

I have a friend who saw that I lost a lot of weight from doing the ultimate wellness program so she signed up for it and didn’t loose the weight but she felt great physically. My sister and brother in law think I am loosing weight because I am not eating enough calories. I have revised my diet to include carbs. I have appointments with pain management and back to the neurologists. Thank you for responding to my post. 🤗💕🦋🌺
