or even it’s little sister condition Histamine Intolerance. I very accidentally found out years ago that I’ve had it since childhood. GPs of course are no help, but there quite a lot of info and resources online.
Don’t be anxious! I was just wondering if they’ve ruled this out because it’s often overlooked. As you’ve had hives since childhood, it sounds like you are consistently reacting to something that is yet to be identified and sometimes just eliminating what it isn’t is a good idea.
Hope you soon get some answers and the right treatment to settle the irritation!😊
if you have a good Chinese medicine practitioner near you, (doctor) then you could try them , as Chinese medicine is particularly good at healing skin issues, much better than western doctors, I have found.
I get horrendous itching with the fibro and I have to try really hard not too as been told it makes it worse but easier said than done! I use an antihistamine fexofendine and it works a little but I am still working on best relief. I did go thro periods of hives when super sensitive seems worse in summer especially grass which again has be one worse since fibro began.
Good morning, I had the same a few years ago it just came on one night and I couldn't stop it. Every day was terrible and my skin was so sore where I had scratched it. After a period of timeI found mine was linked to my thyroid. I was already underactive but my dosage was no longer correct. Since that has been adjusted to now thyroxine and levotyhroxine basically T4 and T3 supplemented I've been fine. I really hope you find the cause it's horrible 😞 sending you luck.
obviously I don’t know your history, but you are on a lot of medication. I found none of the medication for fibro myalgia worked. It just made me worse. Try googling low dose naltrexone . I get an itch too, but it’s a nerve itch so there’s no redness other than from my scratching no rash
Hi I came out in hives/blisters and itching after the AstraZeneca vaccine when covid first started and still have problems. Have you been on any long term meds since you was Nine that may have started this or do you remember having any vaccinations at that age. Sorry this may not be of any help just trying to see if there is a connection to anything you had at that age.
Hi there. In addition to other useful suggestions you've already received, it might be worth double checking that your diagnosis of fibromyalgia is a correct or complete one.
Maybe your GP could refer you to a rheumatologist and dermatologist to be checked over again. Recurrent hives can also be a feature of autoimmune disease, including vasculitis.
A rheumatologist can run tests that your GP isn't able to. For example, the anti-C1q antibody test is an often overlooked but important test, as well as having your your complement levels checked.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia for years until the above tests were run. Like you, I suffered recurring outbreaks of hives. Turns out I have a lupus -like vasculitis called urticarial vasculitis syndrome. So it's always worth revisiting the diagnosis of fibromyalgia.
I have a few diagnosis because it seems difficult to fully determine what I have. It’s similar to lupus..but not. I’ll ask my doctor about your condition and see what she says
I hope you get some answers. The anti-C1q antibody test can't be run by a GP as far as I'm aware, so you would likely need a referral to a rheumatologist.
However, your GP should be able to run blood tests measuring a part of your immune system called the complement system. My C3 and C4 complement markers were low which also helped to form the diagnosis.
