Fibro Itching

I have fibromyalgia for a long time, I always itch all over, but lately my scalp has been itching, feels like something is crawling all over my head. My dogs have fleas, so I thought for sure I had them too. I had my dogs, house and me cleaned with special treatments. I still get the itching it is terrible. This morning I had my husband really look in my hair and scalp with a big Magnifying light that we have, he looked for a long time and found nothing. So it is from the fibro, and as I said I always itching everywhere so I make sure I use a really good body cream from Aveno. Lately, I have been using Gold Bond healing lotion, and I think it is making it worse, so I am going back to Aveno.

I start to itch all over at night. Drives you mad I know but is part of this awful ilness. Take care

My Gp gave me a special shampoo i think it was called capsi- something.

he also said that coal tar shampoo worked as well.

I am not having a problem at the moment but i dont expect it to last.

Hi Jenni_123

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcoem to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted you a link below to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:

fmauk.org/

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering with an ''itching issue'' and I sincerely hope that you can find some relief to this problem. There have been quite a few posts over the years relating to this and many Fibro sufferers do appear to have this affliction. I am so sorry however, I have not come across a solid answer for it yet?

I have pasted you a link below to the NHS Choices cache on itching scalps and there appears to be so many different causes of it, if it is not Fibro related:

nhs.uk/Conditions/Itching/P...

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Have you checked for allergies? I know I get terrible itching if I don't take an antihistamine for a few days.

Allergies seem to be common with Fibro so I have read. I take certirazine which you can buy over the counter and only need one every few days to keep it at bay. Might be a good idea to check with your doctor first if you're on other meds too.

Good luck. I know that itching all over is horrible.

You are right, I forget about my allergies, I have those too. I have had allergies my whole life, plus asthma, chronic sinusitus, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic memory loss, and chronic pain, so sometime I forget one of them, thanks for the reminder. Have a good day.

Hi, yes I too have recently wondered if I need to visit Nitty Nora! I think its because I am taking a cocktail of pain relief and using pain gel, they just don,t like each other! For my hair (which has gone very dry recently I have bought some Tea Tree shampoo and Conditioner from Boots -very cheap) wash twice, then apply cond. and leave in undr a towel for 5 minutes then rinse off, itching subsides for hours after!! For my body stopped using fancy shower gels gone back to "Simple" also stopped buying concentrated fabric softner and gone back to sensitive brand I always had.. Hope this helps.

Summer heat makes one itch more. Have a google for antihistamine diet/foods, interesting information. Some people come out in hives which is a histamine response. Beware if de-frosting salmon/fish, if it's left out too long histamine levels rise substantially which can cause allergic reactions. Be careful which products you use for personal bathing as well as washing clothes. There are natural products on the market, keep everything as simple as possible.
