Does anyone experience severe itching on parts of their body. I have been given ointment from my doctor and have to go for a blood test next week. The itch is around an embarrassing area and I've had it for a few weeks now. It is so severe that it keeps me awake at night.

Fibro and severe itching
I used to don't get it so much now I think it was some medications I was taking as we all know fibro sufferers are usually on loads of meds check the side effects of your meds good luck.
Thanks for the reply to my question
Hi Ladybob1, yes. Have you tried Aqueous as a wash and a cream? It does soothe and repair skin, plus being pure, doesn't irritate the area more. My finger joints are very itchy, red and swollen but maybe this is the osteoarthritis. I hope you get relief really soon
ladybob,
Sympathise with you as not very pleasant...
From experience it could be something you've eaten or an allergic reaction to medication.
You do need to either see a Dr.or ask a Chemist for advice and possibly anti thrush medication ...
Meanwhile a nice hot bath may temporarily relieve symptoms.
Hope it clears up soon for you..
Carol.

I don't know what meds you are on but I find my pain meds make me itch badly, so thinking it could be a reaction to something like that. I'd be interested to hear what your GP says other than just giving you cream. I find Aveeno cream helpful personally.

Hi there I find my tramadol gives me uncontrolble itching on my body something about it releases histamines are u taking that ? Xx
Hi, I get very itchy and come out in rashes or lumps, mainly on my neck, shoulders and chest but it can appear anywhere. Last weekend I could have scratched my hands raw, they were so bad. I have had this for years so can't blame it on medication as I have only been on medication since last year. Sorry I can't give any help.
I've had itching on hands like that too which had no rash but did result in blood spots just under the skin...some quite large on lower arms. I use a pres. cream in a tube that helps, Momentasone Furoate, but recently inherited tubes of another cream for diabetic skin problems and boy does that work well, Betamethasone Dipropionate..augmented with a steroid. My Dr. said to use it sparingly because it can thin the skin making the blood spots appear more but I haven't seen that happen. They've actually disappeared. It works well on ankle itch too which happens when pants brush against them and top of feet. Really prefer Capri style pants now. With Fibro, skin is more sensitive. To easy itching at night I take an allergy pill...helps for sleep too. M.A. in USA
I had that on medication. A side effect of the medication, was that it can affect the liver. Liver problems can cause itching. So can allergies and omega 3 deficiencies. I came off the meds asap. It went away.
