I am awaiting a pip review. My pip ends January 2024. There seems a long wait for the decision at the moment. I understand that I will still keep getting my award beyond January if they haven’t reviewed my claim
My blue badge runs out Jan 2024 What I need to know if Dwp are still reviewing the claim can I get my blue badge extended until a decision is made?
Any help would be appreciated

I got my blue badge without claiming PIP. All I had to do was fill in the form, attend a meeting with an occupational therapist at the local council buildings, pay the fee and that was it.
Mine was due September but they sent me a 12 month extension for my pip award until my actual review has been dealt with, I used this award letter to renew my blue badge for 12 months
Goodmorning I had same problem and rang blue badge people and explained they asked for photo of existing badge i just emailed it to them and they said they had access to dwp to get anything else needed and was sent new badge in about a week best of luck hope that helps
My sister had a pip review and it was dealt with all by paper and re awarded. She completed the form exactly as required on notes, but expanded info fully and attached as much documentation re conditions as she could that were acceptable to pip (no GP letters are accepted).. Not sure how long it took to be decided and re awarded but think it was weeks, not months.
Reviews are treated differently to full applications. Think the reviewer can make decisions on reviews whereas as not on new applications etc. Have a good Google about.
As others have said blue badge can be issued by Councils but you should enquire fast and ask for help with asap as they can also take a while.
I tried to apply for a blue badge. The process for my council was online and gave an immediate result.
I currently don’t claim pip but am having serious thoughts as to whether I should apply.
With respect to the Blue Badge - I got turned down immediately due to having some mobility. Absolutely nowhere to explain how this can fluctuate and there is no consistent ability or inability!
Sometimes I can walk for a reasonable distance and time. Then it can swing the other way and I’m so exhausted, in pain, aching, unsteady. I’ve even has a couple of falls as my balance is shot to pieces
I'm same, been refused because I said my condition varies so some days mobile but others not and that even on mobile days its constant agony. But was told no as was mobile.
Receives the Higher Rate of the Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMCDLA); or
Receives 8 points or more under the “moving around” activity of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP); or
Receives the mobility component of PIP and has obtained 10 points specifically for Descriptor E under the “planning and following journeys” activity, on the grounds that they are unable to undertake any journey because it would cause them overwhelming psychological distress; or
Is registered blind (severely sight impaired); or∙ Receives a War Pensioner's Mobility Supplement (WPMS); or
Has been both awarded a lump sum benefit at tariffs 1-8 of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and certified as having an enduring and substantial disability which causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking
Type 2: Eligible subject to further assessment
People who may be issued with a badge after further assessment are those who are more than two years old and may be described as one or more of the following:∙
A person who drives a vehicle regularly, has a severe disability in both arms and is unable to operate, or has considerable difficulty in operating, all or some types of parking meter; or
A person who has been certified as having an enduring and substantial disability which causes them, during the course of a journey, to:
Be unable to walk
Experience very considerable difficulty whilst walking, which may include very considerable psychological distress; or
Be at risk of serious harm when walking; or pose, when walking, a risk of serious harm to any other person
Any of the above three types of difficulty whilst walking could potentially be caused by a physical disability, or by a ‘non-physical’ disability. In either case, the disability experienced by the applicant must endure for at least three years.
I would apply for your blue badge as you normally would. It is the council, not DWP that issue them. You may have a very long wait for your PIP anyway, mine ran out in August and I just had another text to say they have not got to mine yet but payments will continue. Good luck in your applications.
I’ve got a Blue Badge but I’ve never had pip. I filled in the online application form and then they contacted me for permission to contact the Dr I said yes and a week later it came, valid for four years. I think each council has its own way of doing things.
Glad you got some helpful replies from members , the forum is so helpful, I hope you get it sorted very soon , it’s near December and that can be a very busy month for parking as you know, I got a ticket the other week at M@S as I was slightly over the line but on the end of a row (not taking up another parking space, ) i sent a letter but still had too pay 60 😩 a very busy day and wished I had off stayed home made my shopping very expensive that day x
Hi there. I have just recently been waiting for a PIP decision and was really worried about what I saw in the press and online about people getting thrown off PIP. I have Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Sticky blood and Reynauds and Sjogrens. None of these are displayed as a disabled reason for PIP. I had a lovely phone appointment with someone who obviously knew what she was talking about. I got the decision back it was upgraded to enhanced mobility and living. It has been such a relief as without that PIP I would have a lot harder life.
So what I’m saying is trust the process and if you feel you don’t have the decision you think you have then keep appealing.
