Good luck with the DLA claim, hope it's not too distressing for you. I appealed their decision and had to sit in front of a panel of three "experts" who told me I was an attention seeker. I wish I had the courage to try again. Hopefully, fingers crossed, yours will go okay.

Congrats on the blue badge, it'll help so much. :)

glad you got your much needed blue badge. Dont be put off with the DLA claims, its normal for claims to be turned down first time around. you need to appeal their decision/ask for it to be reviewed. i got mine because of hip problems many years ago. i was born like it but sill had my original DLA award turned down….(many years ago) I asked for a revision and was awarded it for life…. and i believe they still do the same today. I never submitted any extra info, just told them the fact that they couldn't have read anything in the claim or the report from the doctor. :)

wishing you lotsa luck aand dont give in xx (((hug)))

mmmmm i had pethes hip as a small child and i have fibro cfs arthritis and hypothyriodism i have no end date on my incapacity but still have to renew my dla but by the looks of it people with fibro may loose it when dla changes to p.i.pwhat do you think

in reply to darkangael666

i am just in the process of having my incapacity changed over to ESA. I had no end date on any of mine, but by the sounds of it they are reviewing all DLA claims too. if you get lower rate care, thats the part you are likely to lose but i think with hip problems i am hoping we stand a chance of keeping the mobility part at least.

I have just this minute through the post had a copy of the doctors report from ATOS and it says is unlikely to be able to return to work in the next two years and recommends the support group. now lets see what the DWP do. they will most prob put me in the working group lol i am assuming i get in the support group then in 2 years it will need to be reviewed again, by which time they will be reviewing the DLA so they should do the atos assessment tother. i now have to wait for the DWP but feel that i can at least breath for a little while longer.

I think most recent DLA claims they put shorter review dates on.. i have to be honest i have been in receipt of benefit for 15 yrs:( i would rather be working though as i had to stop working in a job that paid me more 16 yrs ago than my husband earns today. we had to move so i could get a bungalow so he had to give up his job too and just do anything…. currently he works at tesco. at least its a wage, that is better than none.

when i find my way around this site properly i will post somewhere once i get my reply back from DWP… it will be a farce if they say the opposite to what the ATOS doctor has recommended. we shall see :) xxxx

sorry i forgot to put in the post below, it was congenital dislocation of the hip or now now known as Developmental displaysia of the hip, that i was born with and have had 6 major ops on one hip, finally a replacement when i was 41. i'm now 50 and the other hip needs doing but they wont do it until I get the Obstructive Sleep apnoea under control, let alone the fibro!!

well at least its sunny here today, that makes me smile even if nothing else does xxxx (((hug))))

Well done for getting your blue badge. I have applied for one and called yesterday to see what is happening - it takes four weeks apparently so two more to wait and see if I get one. The woman on the phone was ever so helpful and suggested I get a supporting letter too,so am going to ask my physio.

All the best for your DLA application.

Caroline xx

woo woo to you well done love diddle x

thanks for replyin rozzy its such a worrying time for all but we have an illness thats got no cure even though its not going to kill us its affects all our lives in such a way we cant do a full time job and as the goverment plan to close quite alot of remploy places with a hope of finding disabled people proper jobs as they state good luck mr cameron x

i would love for him to spend a day in our shoes!! Or any of them that have ruined many lives… it makes you wonder if there are any records of the suicide rate going up because of all these changes. i bet they dont record it if someone takes their own life whether or not they were struggling to cope because of the system!

Sorry to sound so negative, but although I know i would struggle if i lost my benefit, there is always someone far worse off.

Mr C came from a privileged background and although he had a severely disabled son, sadly he didnt survive, but I bet the family got every little bit of support they needed. even if they didnt need money, its help and advice/support i bet they got and doctors and hosp appts when they needed them…but everyone else has to wait, or at worse doesnt get any support. like you say what is now going to happen to the people who have been employed by Remploy. they will find it so hard to get other jobs and i doubt because they have been working wont get any disability benefits…. that i dont know, but i think its disgraceful.

Before having one of my hip replaced I had to wear one of my shoes built up.. i hated it but had no choice as it was damaging my spine, when i took my shoes to the hospital the were sent off to one of the remploy companies…so if they shut them that is another service the NHS will lose…. i will stop going on now sorry.. i got on my soap box lol.. the dog needs feeding so i better go xxxxx

The first time I applied for DLA, I was refused. I applied again a couple of years later, and this time had help filling it in from the Citizens advice Bureau. They were brilliant, knew exactly how to word everything, and I got middle rate allowance awarded.
