Well I have renewed my Blue Badge without a fight which I am really please about.
Now they do not post them you have to collect them and pay your £10 fee but you have to hand in you old badge.
I re applied in good time as mine runs out in January and they suggest 8 - 12 weeks before it runs out to re apply.
Email states :
Your badge is valid from the 11th January 2020.
Therefore you cannot actually collect the blue Badge until this date because you have to hand in your old one so your new one will not be valid until the above date.
Why do they have to make everything so difficult?
Your badge is valid from the 11th January 2020. Please be mindful that the badge will only be valid from this date so if you do choose to collect before this date and return the old one as required, you will be without a valid badge.

Hi there, i wonder if this policy is country wide. I have never had to hand my old badge back and always done everything by post. Mines due for renewal next year. Thanks for the heads up ill check it out so I can be prepared
This is my second Blue Badge. My First was posted to me.
I am very shocked by this.
This is what they state
Please be aware ...... Borough Council is unable to send renewed Disabled Persons Parking Badges by post as per the Department for Transport policy.
You must return your old badge in order to collect your new badge renewal Blue Badges will not be issued if previous badges are not surrendered at the time of collection.
Its probably because a lot of Blue badges are being fraudulently used and it is possible for them to go astray in the post. If you go in to collect it, they can be sure it is you.
I live in West Yorkshire, my Blue Badge was due to run out early this Month. I applied online early September along with the fee & photo. It arrived in the post within 3 weeks. You can apply in person but reading the information you have more hoops to jump through so online application is easier. I haven't had to return my old one. The online form was easy, took about 10-15 minutes.
Mine was online! I sent it about 4 weeks ago and got confirmation in an email they had received it. I then received an application in the post so I emailed to confirm they had my online application. They emailed the following day saying my application had be successful and my Blue Badge renewal was sent for printing. They would then email me when it was ready to collect.
Which they did today from my post earlier.
I think I will check the department of transports policy to see if this is correct xx
Good luck with that. Tried to do it from home found it confusing because it asked if I was applying for a new badge or renewing. Said I was renewing but as I went further it did not allow that choice and I lost everything. Went to Libary they were busy so I ran out of time. Eventually started again at home, daughter then added documents and sent off. Still not got new one so now old one will expire any day.
I've just reapplied for the 7th time with Oxford council, it has been an utter fiasco before, this time I sent them 56 pages of my medical notes. I will update you when I know
