Hi everyone hope your doing ok. I applied for a blue badge with out having the mobility part of pip. I have recently been diagnosed with severe degenerative arthritis in my knee, as well as having fibromyalgia. I have an assessment next week and just wondered if anyone as had one, and what to expect.

I applied for my badge without being in receipt of PIP. I was asked to attend the council offices and was interviewed by Occupational health officer. She watched me walk to the office. She asked a few questions about how I managed with shopping and chores etc. She then took me back to reception and she watched me leave the building and go to the car park. A few days later my badge arrived.

I got a blue badge without any benefits at the time I needed it. I did mine online. Answered the questions and I was sent a blue badge.

depends where you live as its your local council that do blue badges. I am in receipt of PIP, but no mobility and Bradford say no - if I was over the border in Leeds then that would be a yes!

Post Code lottery so check your council website

The criteria for eligibility for a blue badge are set out on the Government website here gov.uk/government/publicati...

Each Local Authority has to make the decisions based on the eligibility criteria. You have the right of appeal if they say No, and the decision will be looked at again. People who are refused often believe that there is a post-code lottery but in my experience, decisions are very consistent across Local Authorities as they are all applying the same rules and guidance. Where different decisions arise, they are down to people meeting the criteria while others simply don't, but are convinced that they should.
