Hi Lynsey22

Nice to meet you, I have just joined too ๐Ÿ˜ƒ as I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last week and have been off work since early September 2023 due to flu and autoimmune flare. my rheumatologist has diagnosed fibromyalgia, I have pains all over body and shoulder to neck and head pains. I seem to be over sensitive and can no longer wear my watch its crazy. Pains at night mean up any time between 2-4am eating and taking pain killers, the cramps/spasms make you feel like shoulder and knee is about to dislocate which has happened about fours years ago which no one could explain up to now.

Now using crutches and knee supports.

I have even stopped eating certain foods to try to help as advised. My partner has been reading about it and has been very supportive and calm when get Fibro fog which causes memory and cognitive issues which come and go.

Wish you all well and hope to read more of your posts to learn more from you forum kind people. Thank you ๐Ÿ™

People just don't get it! It's difficult to understand fibromyalgia symptoms. My son and I have suffered with it for many years and we both get back of neck pain. Muscles can clamp anywhere and cause pain and spasms. Try relaxation exercises, muscles relaxing, or breathing in and slowly blowing out through mouth. I find this helps better than medication

I will thank you!

Hope you and your son feel better

Hi Lynsey22,

I regularly get headache and neck pain from the base of my skull and spreads down to my neck area. Movement in that entire area is limited and painful, I get a throbbing sensation and the area is tender to touch and it feels inflamed.

Although this is always present in the background, it definitely gets so much worse when I am stressed/anxious. I was diagnosed with a bulging disc in the top of my spine not sure if the two are connected but I think makes things worse.

We are all different and the causes will vary from one person to another, so please get this checked by your GP.

I use Tiger balm 'neck and shoulder' ointment and find it really helps. It is quite strong and maybe not suited to everyone.

I believe fibro warriors know our bodies well, so no, you're not a hypochondriac you're tuned into what your body is trying to tell you.

Hope you feel better today,

Love and Blessings

LG x

Hi Ladygelf, hope you are having a good day today๐Ÿ’žand thank you so much for your kind words of advice.

I too have a bulging disc but in the lower back area, so i know this doesnt help with how i feel๐Ÿ™„. I have used tiger balm also and it does help. Reassuring to know someone else has similar problems and also that someone believes in our fibromyalgia problems. Sending hugs to you too ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’žxx

Hiya, I can't remember the last time I didn't have a headache ๐Ÿ™„, it's been years! It's at its worse when I first wake up, I feel like I'm gonna die and then it calms a little after shower and breakfast. I think mines connected to neck and shoulders. How can partners understand as we look 'fine' from the outside ๐Ÿฅด. My husband has been up for a long run across fields this morning, where as I've dug deep just to drag my butt out of bed! He's also 6 years older than me. It's mighty frustrating and upsetting and just another thing to put up with and keep quiet about ๐Ÿ˜•. I'm also relatively new to this site and diagnosis but this has been the biggest support for me. Gentle hugs x

Hi, sounds like me. I have a tender head all the time and when mine gets worse it usually coincides with very painful neck and shoulders. I wear a heated neck collar or use a wheat bag that heats up in the microwave which I find helpful.I would describe my head as having shooting pains and or a stress type headache.

Hi Lynsey I can deffo relate to the head pain. My head feels as if its too heavy for my shoulders. Constant pain in lower skull which radiates into neck and shoulders. I use a hot water bottle at the base if my head. Helps a little x

hi my headaches have been terrible so much so that Iโ€™m on a long waiting list for a brain scan. Iโ€™ve had trouble sleeping confusing facial pain along with toothache type pains. I do wear a gum shield. I have been on Setraline 50mg for two weeks now and it seems to be numbing the pain although not completely gone. Iโ€™m worried depression has been causing a lot of my pains? Although I think the pains and body itching have caused the depression. Iโ€™ve had Fibro for over 6yrs. Does anyone relate to this.

Hi Vontrap, I wonder whether it's the pain causing the depression and not the other way round? I remember coming off my antidepressants and having a major flare up. My GP told me that the antidepressant had been helping me to cope with the pain.

Just something to think about. Take care and God bless xx

Thanks Elaine. I agree overall pain is not sustainable. Especially headaches and lack of sleep. Will see what the next four weeks bring. ๐Ÿ‘
