First application for pip

I first applied for pip end of May . Rang this month a number of times . Told that they had a dead line of 18th October to make a decision. I didn’t need a face to face or telephone assessment. Told it was waiting now for case manager to pick up make decision. I have heard nothing and it is 18th October and I am getting rather anxious now. Can they go over the dead line date . Has anybody else experience this .

October would have been their target *deadline* however they rarely meet their target dates

You can - but it's probable that you are still waiting for a case manager to be assigned

it can take a long time, but they do back date what you are due to when you first applied

Unfortunately my application took nearly a year to be turned down but after going through the reconsideration then tribunal, I won my award and it was backdated nearly 18 months so I suggest no news is good news and you will hear once a case manage has been assigned. Good luck :)

Sadly there are still backlogs from COVID. Many people like my wife and I had our PIP awards extended. They are now trying to deal with all those that were extended and the large number of new applications. Personally I do not trust anything that is said over the phone. If you ring again ask for a letter confirming what as been said.

Hi, I originally applied on 7 August, I have today had my telephone assessment and they have stated the case manager will reach a decision within the next eight weeks!

I received a message in September saying my claim is with assessment people . Then got told dead line 18th October for paper based decision . Then I received an other identical message in first week November from the assessment people saying your case is being looked at etc . What is going on I don’t understand now all gone quiet . But each time I called it was a positive case of they are just waiting for case manager to pick it up . I started my claim in May ??? Help anybody had same thing happen I feel like I have been thrown to back of the pile .
