PIP reward

My PIP was due to be assessed last October, I sent all the firms back before the deadline in August. I have been getting regular messages to say they will get in touch when they are ready to do the assessment. This morning I have had a message to say the review is complete and I will here within 2 weeks what the outcome is. Is this usual for them to do this without even a telephone call? I presumed I would be having either a face to face or at least a call. I am now worried they have just dismissed me and I won't get anything.

I wouldn't panic to me it appears they have enough information to do a paper based review. Try ringing the DWP and wait to hear when your next payment is due and what it will be. That should give you the information i.e. same payment, reduced payment or increased payment. They don't normally give results over the phone but by checking the amount and date of payment can give you the idea of what you are likely to receive before the letter arrives if you can't wait that long! Good luck.

Thank you, I know there is no point in worrying but just can't help it. They said not to ring until I have had the letter as they won't have any answers, I suppose 2 weeks is not too long to wait. I first claimed in 2020 so only had a phone call then because of covid, I thought they may want a face to face one this time.

If you ring it is the automated bit that will give you the amount of your next payment. My relative knew he had moved to enhanced before the letter came by ringing and listening to his next payment amount and date.

Some say getting light touch this means they assesss you by your form if nothing has changed like arthritis its not going away it’s manable but can’t be cured I thought that meant they asses it and don’t have to contact my cousin got that just letter sayingyour needs have not changed she’d got the same.

I got my review done without an appointment so I think sometimes they have enough information and don’t need to see everyone at every review. I was so relieved as hate the assessment, make you feel like a piece of 💩

That's good to hear, I only had a message a couple of weeks ago to say that they still hadn't done the review and would pay me until May 2025, so it was a bit unexpected to be honest.

mine was due in June and they told me it was going to take 10 weeks then you have to go through an independent process so not looking forward to that but on the plus side I have more health problems so trying not to worry. I’m sure you’ll be ok 👌

Hi RK55.

Nothing to be concerned over as like U I did the same & expected a phone call or face to face interview & I also received the periodical texts too & in the end I got a letter explain what I was awarded & how long it is going to last.

For me it was 3 year award.

I had similar for my re-assessment and they awarded me for the evidenced restrictions, with a four year award to my next assessment, as clinically it is likely that I will deteriorate in physical capability as time goes on.Really fair report, but I did have a lot of evidence in writing from consultants. Don't worry, I had the letter two days after the text. Hugs xx

Thank you all, I had my letter today and they have awarded me the same as I have now up until 2027, so I don't have to worry for a while.

I had a further assessment. The decision was made on the further paper evidence I provided to them. My condition hadn’t changed. In fact it had got worse. They upheld my previous award of standard daily living allowance and enhanced mobility. I hadn’t received their letter within the 2 weeks so I phoned them and they gave me the decision over the phone. The decision letter arrived a further 2 weeks later. Hope this helps. Good luck
