Pip renewal
As mentioned, review forms are often sent out early so that there's time for you to get an assessment, which is usually needed, so that you then hopefully get a decision before your current award ends.
You can ring the PIP enquiry number, which is 0800 121 4433 asking for an extension, & you will automatically get another 2 weeks before having to return your completed form.
You should treat your review as if it was your initial claim & give a couple of detailed explanations for each applicable descriptor. Don't just put 'no change,' for example, but explain exactly how you are the majority of days. There's not enough space, so just add extra pages (linking them to each question) at the end, with your name & National Insurance number at the top of each page.
Have a look again at the activities/descriptors that are looked at with PIP: cambridgeshire.gov.uk/asset...
Then try & give a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity such as pain or fatigue?
Say if you can't do an activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without your disability. See this mentioned at the end of the link above.
There's more detail here: gov.uk/government/publicati... where you can see about 'reliability,' fluctuating conditions, aids, etc.
Keep a copy of everything 'just in case,' & get a free Certificate of Posting from your Post Office when sending the form off. It's unneccesary to use a paid for postal service, as all DWP mail goes to a mail sorting office, where mail is signed for in bulk, before it's then received by the DWP.
Unfortunately sending out a form up to a year in advance seems to be very common now. It comes as a shock when you aren't expecting it. Hope you get a good decision.x
This is correct. It’s so there is time for you be assessed before the claim runs out. I put my forms in in July 2021 and didn’t get assessed until February 2023. Do make sure the forms are back by the date or ring for an extension if you need more time.
Hello yes my renewal I did last November and current award runs until Sept 23 but was told its normal to get year b4 and iam still waiting for results. I agree with you that things change In a year but if they do you have to send as add on to renewal in the past waited 18months for renewal and got another form to fill in we sre at pips mercy but the waiting is stressful not knowing
did they extend your original award due to Covid or anything else?
If they did then that’s the reason why.
But they can review your award at anytime.
My review took 19 months in total.
I had this done to me a few years ago, they contacted me a year earlier but don't worry everything should be ok. You'll still be paid until they make a decision.
I have just sent mine back, and mine also isnt due to end til March 24 but was extended during covid..i figured they were just getting there early to cancel it so kinda pleased to read they won't look at it for months. Ive had a few more good days so have had to say that but worry they will still stop it.
hi had extension 9 months before it ended got a review form, 11 month’s waiting for assessment got txt stating assessors will be looking at my pip. Also extended again till 2024. It’s a waiting game. Like others have said treat as a new claim give as much info as you can. Send by signed for so it covers you if it goes missing and make a copy alway.
