Unfortunately yes - they can and do lower awards despite people having them for years previously. The appeals rate being 70% successful tells you a lot about the dwp decisions
This is why this process is so wrong . No wonder people get so stressed about it. You just can't trust the DWP . It's such a shame that the people working for them don't think about how they would feel if it were them or their loved ones in this position.
Totally agree. And sadly it's not likely to get any better. We also hear more about the ones who have issues with the system than the ones who don't have any problems
I guess it's like most things. We tell everyone about the negatives that effect our lives , but rarely praise or communicate the positives.
And people deal with things differently. I have PTSD and my brain focuses on negatives 100 times more than most so I find it very difficult to cope with things that otherwise would be seen as normal. Even when I have been given a benefit ....each day I get e letter in the post I'm not expecting it triggers me to think the worst .
I'm waiting for help with this but it's a long time coming and the longer I wait I fear the more engrained the behaviour becomes.
Thank you for what you do on here , it's nice to get the support that otherwise is missing from the "system" they are quick to judge but not quick to help.....
Well here's a success story for you to help balance things out. Relative had PIP assessment, awarded standard on both, asked for a MR and got enhanced on both without going to Appeal. As you say people are quick with the negatives and sometimes forget to post the positives.
I’m sorry to hear that, they did the same to my sister and she’s had 52 operations and is all glued together and they made the decision without even looking at her medical records. People that are doing it some are not qualified either so my sister went to the citizens advice bureau and they took her case on and won, put an appeal in straight away then take all the documentation from the previous time and prescriptions and ask then to help you. She’s just got hers back now but it’s taken a full year and they’ve put her on the top rate rate which they didn’t before. Good luck, please keep us updated with your progress ☺️
I am terrified about my PIP renewal. Was due to have a telephone assessment for renewal and they didn’t call, so I called capita and they said that the assessor was having issues with the computer , and apologised for not calling me to let me know. I explained that the following day I was going in to a psychiatric ward for a month , so they then said they would do it paper based and write to all my specialists and my GP to ask about my functional abilities. I explained that my GP won’t have a clue about that as I’ve never told them about how I function. Now I am very scared I will loose it, as I’ve had no opportunity to give my side of the story and how I live . It causes so much anxiety 😥.
Hi I know what you mean from the time I got very ill I fought with them for seven years before I ever got anywhere was denied twice and went to tribunal over it eventually got myself settled this year I'm due for my review again I was quite panicking but at the end of last year they wrote to say that now I'm retirement age there will be no end date to my Pip and I've been put on a 10 Year review I was so relieved it seems like a big wait off my shoulders as I would struggle badly if I didn't have my Blue Badge take care 💙
Unfortunately that's why people hate the system I think it's done to wear people down so they give ip or make it so difficult people don't bother I know of people who have got worse and health deteriorated and have to have more help to have their pip lowered or stopped losing their mobility cars etc and it will get worse when people on esa are forced onto universal credit with all that entails making it that if you don't have pip award you have to find job I mentioned this a while ago when the gov said wca were stopping
I also would add my mind goes to the negative first because when it happens your not surprised but I had pip review in November after waiting over year after I filled in form and spent £100 getting supporting evidence from gp etc photocopy everything and send recorded delivery I had help from Advisor that my housing association supply free and eventually after 20 odd years of review after review and assessments I got an award for enhanced on both and 10yr but my mind went straight to when I wS on dla and I was on a indefinite award then was changed to pip and lost money as I was lowered to standard care so excuse me if I don't rest and stop stressing as it could change any time as it will when we are forced from esa to uc and the headache of doing it online and dealing with jobcentre just goes on and on dwp or I call it doesn't work properly
