I was sent my review forms in Sep 2022 as my claim runs out in May. As of yet my review still has not been looked at although I received a text 3 days ago saying they were the people that would look at my assessment. 8 months! and not even looked at. My condition has progressed, Has anyone else been in this situation? TIA x

PIP review
hi, I called them as mine runs out in July, I also sent mine back in September 22, and it turns out that each assessment is handled in different categories, mine is sent to a specialist doctor, then on to a specialist assessment, mine wasn’t sent over until April, so if they don’t come to a decision by my due date, it simply rolls over, they will let you know if it’s 3-6 months or a year, they are so backlogged.
Hi, thanks for your reply, they have already continued it until December. How do you know if it has been sent to specialists etc?
you are welcome, I was told in my case due to all the ailments I have adjoined to fm, I go through a specialist assessment, I was told it was with them since April, mine isn’t just fm, I am disabled with a lot of other conditions, due to fm , and I had a lovely lady who explained it all to me . I have hospital and doctors letters, so they generally follow them up, Just ask them when you speak to them, you’re not lying. So you nothing to fear.
I recieved mine just before Christmas, I'm still waiting too. There may be an increase in applicants post covid but if so they need to employ more staff. Its not acceptable and causes more stress.
Unfortunately as new claims are still being prioritised, then it can take some time to get an assessment for a review. One person I know was waiting 18 months, but that was exceptional!
I haven't heard of specialist assessments (nor different categories), but perhaps Blue-52's is a paper-based one, altho they're comparitively rare. Usually, & even with many different diagnoses/comorbidities, an assessment is needed.
Again, usually, neither your GP nor any other consultant is asked for any input & they don't know how you cook, bathe, use the bathroom, budget, etc. either.
Be aware that when you ring you will be speaking to a call handler that really can't give advice, tho many try to, even if it's not accurate.
I'm sorry your condition has progressed, & hope you're not waiting too much longer. Your monies will be paid as usual until a decision is made, when hopefully it will just continue. I don't think anyone can guess how long any backlogs might be.
hi I had my reassessment due in November 2021, I only had a phone assessment this March. I’ve had so many problems with my health in that time as I have other health conditions as well and waited such a long time I ended up applying for a blue badge with my local council because my mobility isn’t good anymore. I’ve also been diagnosed with another 2 conditions and PIP have decided nothing has changed. They will continue to pay you if you already get PIP.
Yes my husband had his form filled it in immediately didn't hear anything for months had a text after Xmas like yours and not heard anything since . He also has more problems now
Yes I sent my review back in August last year and just had my reply last month 8 months ago, I know it's a worry but try and put out of your mind that's what I did because you'll make yourself even worse. Hopefully you'll hear back soon! X
yes I also sent my forms back in 2022 and only just had a telephone review but I did get asked about new conditions and medications etc the call lasted over an hour not had any results yet as to the decision though hope this helps x
Par for the course Zidowa. I’d phone them up to say the time is running out just to make sure they have it on record. They will extend the date if necessary. Nearly a year since I first started applying. It’s a long old process.
Hi my review was done July 22 I have received a text this week from the assessment service saying they are reviewing my application and if I need a face to face assessment they will be in touch. I did send a very detailed report from a Medical Officer explaining all my difficulties which was done for my ill health retirement so hoping that I will not need a further assessment. In the meantime my award has been extended to Feb 24, good luck 🤞 x
Hi my husband was sent a review back last July he only received a call last week didn't even have a letter to say they were phoning the man said they got a big backlog to get through but they will get around to everyone eventually hope this puts your mind at rest x
I sent mine off in February 2022 and heard from the company who do the assessments in March 2023. I had to endure a phone assessment on the 4th April this year, 14 months after submittimg my review. Since I sent my forms off I have been diagnosed with angina and 3 more meds were prescribed. The call took 90mins and was horrid as looking how my fibromyalgia, ibs, angina, anxiety, depression and chronic migraine affect my life is so disheartening. I used to be so active and now I get breathless going to the bathroom and back. Anyway, after the phone medical they told me they would send the report to DWP and should hear from them in six weeks. I am still waiting to hear. It's been ongoing for 15months now. I almost dread hearing from them and don't understand why they have to keep reviewing people who have conditions that will not get better. My mental health is adversely affected by this process as I practice mindfulness in order to cope. It's about living in the "now" and the reviews and assessments require me to look at how things have changed since my last review. I deteriorate each time and to face that fact is cruel to say the least. We are treated badly by people we do not know and who cannot possibly be experts in neurological conditions. I hope you hear from them soon, hang in there.
sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. I have had 3 operations since my first award and my mobility is a struggle. As you say, things are never going to improve. You feel pressured all around which affect you both physically and mentally. Every time something changes I send it in to add on to my details. It is ridiculous that it takes so long and as you said by people who have no idea what you go through on a daily basis.
Same here I had to wait 2 years, it's been done now I got what I thought I should of but this time to my surprise they gave it to me for 10 years.
had my pip review yesterday. 1 he 40 mins ! Anxiety on another leve, now to wait up to 8 weeks. It infuriates me that we are put through all of this, yet people who claim benefits without health problems are just awarded! Certainly not scrutinized like this even though you have medical evidence as proof.
