Diverticulitis: Hi to all fibro friends... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Diverticulitis
I have diverticular disease - when pain is bad I use heat pad to try ease it. Also try to avoid too much food that may trigger it to flare
My dad was in hospital for a week for diverticulitis, I thought you had to have antibiotics?
Hi SisookI have, and have been offered a soma due to a perforated bowel.
Management is difficult, like we don't give up enough for fibro!
I have found good probiotics, stress management and dietary fibre changes useful.
I take inulin when I need to.
Like fibro, there are things that help but it is an individual journey.
When I have sadly made it to a full infection and hospital I have had antibiotics that worked.
Hope you find the best way for you.
Take care
Gigi
I have diverticular disease. But I don't get pain with it. Its just painful to have a poo. I get constipation for days sometimes weeks then the heavens open and its diahorea for a few days. Can't risk going anywhere. What pain do you get with it. So as I know what to expect.
Hi S.I suffer or suffered from diverticulitis & I traced my symptoms to back when I was 17.
Short version...
I had to have part of my bowel removed due to the perforation of said bowel & they put in a stoma but they couldn't close me up as I had caught an infection when I was on the operating table & so they left it open & now I have a stoma for life , type 2 diabetes both tablet & insulin , take morphine for pain relief it's that bad but I've learned to live with it & I'm happy with things & don't mind it at all , there was a time I hated my stoma but now I just hate the body dismorphia I suffer when I see the shape of my torso
I'm 75 and have had it most of my life. Along with the joy of Fibromyalgia. What I have to do is be extremely careful with what I eat. Milk products are a no, no. Fried foods, large portions of meat products, and if you really want to kill me (figure of speech) force me to eat dark green leafy lettuce. In fact, excuse me. I'll be back in a moment. There. Just the mere thought of eating that one food being the worse causes a trip to ye old bathroom. I keep antacids on hand, just in case. My doctor prescribed a med for dealing with cramps, I had to go through a number of different ones until I find one that worked for me. Friends I've spoken to that deal with it also find it doesn't work for them and that's why I haven't mentioned the brand as it might not work for you at all. Just run it by your doctor. And good luck. Those type of cramps are nothing to snicker at. I personally have had episodes so awful I've had sweat pouring out of my arms and needed to wrap myself in towels to keep puddles of sweat from forming on the floor. Imagine being on an aircraft when you get an unannounced visitor?
