What medication do you find effective?

My consultant is asking my doctor to put me on Gabapentin? Have any of you used this and what is your experience of it? Or can you recommend a medication that has worked for you?

I'm very limited in what I can take so I'm on a regime of Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Diazepam and even so I have to take Lansoprazole first thing to prevent my stomach getting irritated .

I've tried most of the other commonly prescribed drugs used for Fibro but found the side effects worse for me than the condition.

I think it's trial and error really in finding something that suits you .

Have you had a thyroid test - thyroid replacement can help but there is great controversy over blood test results so unfortunate some people left to suffer.

I am on Zapain ( paracetamol and 30mg Codiene) Pregapentin and Duloxetine Quinnine Sulphate for restless legs -they twich jerk like crazy sometimes and low dose Amipritimine - quite a cocktail

I've recently bought range of vitamins and natural sleep aid from "Fatigued to fantastic" range and although it's early days I think I feel an improvement - sleep aid definitely works!!

Good luck - gentle hugs xx

Im on gaba, duloxetine co codemol baclofen, oxy, and lopromide, none of them work on me, Ive got to see gp tuesday morning I hope she can come up with something

I take gabapentin and i find its my wonder drug.

I have put quite a bit of weight on and i blame them but everyone is different.

I couldnt be without them now as they are the only tablets that help my pain.

good luck with them.

I'm on co-codamol 30/500 which works best for my pain flares. I'll take naproxsyn too, if the co-cod is not enough, but that's it for the pain.

I also take citraprolam for the twitches and glitches and amitriptylene to aid sleep, I've managed to knock one of those off, I was on 2 tablets at night. I'm experimenting with diet changes and herbal help via a practitioner, early days yet but things are looking pretty good.

Hope you find relief soon.

Gabapentin had no effect on my pain but neurologist then suggsted pregabalin which I think is a newer version of above and I find it helps. I also take tramadol, paracetamol and baclofen. Since starting the pregabalin I think the pain has been better but the fatigue has been worse. It's a tricky one!

Good luck.

just be aware that if it doesnt suit you due to severe side affects (as in my case) that you can be left twice as bad with pain etc when you come off them. they dont tell you that when they suggest them! and i found out the hard way through experience and then much internet searching. yes they were brilliant for the pain but just do your research first! i know of several people who have tried them and had to come off them due to side affects. sorry to be so negative about them but they were a disaster for me. they do work for some people! (just not for me :-( )
