Is beetroot known to control FM?

I have had FM for several years and for the past 3 days I have not had any pains, day or night and can't recall any brain fog. I feel completely like a new person. The only thing I did different 3 days ago is I ate fresh beetroot grown in the garden for the first time ever. Does anyone know if beetroot is known to control FM?

Beetroot is meant to be very good for the circulation. I am glad your pain has eased.

Sorry to burst your bubble, if only it was so simple. The answer is no. I grow my own beetroot and eat it fresh from my back yard.

It is not unusual to have pain free days, weeks or months. Some people actually go in to remission. The only thing I've found is eating too much fresh beetroot will cure your constipation. It's know as a natural laxative!!

Thank you all for the replies. I knew it's too good to be true. Well, this is the first time I have had a pain free period since being diagnosed over 5 years ago. If my symptoms come back I will try another dose anyway, I'll keep you posted. Thanks.

Hi there, look what I would say if you feel its making you feel better keep eating it. I think even placebo effects have there place if it helps us cope. Just remember not to eat it in large amounts xx

Great for Blood Pressure!

Does it have to be fresh beetroot. Can it be boiled, frozen, pickled? Supposedly fresh in the supermarkets is so $$$

And what about beet leaves?

I use the leaves in my soup, they say the leaves are even better than the red ball

They say beetroot is good for inflammation and some scientists associate fibromyalgia with inflammation in the brain. Base on that anyone who is familiar with functional medicine would know that it may help. The point is that there are so many theories on fibromyalgia with varying views on the cause!

I certainly eat them, it’s one of 5 a day (not always though), keep eating them. Vegetables are always good for us no matter what

Ta. My daughter-in-law serves them grated for supper with grated carrots, other veg, some rice or quinoa and a sauce. Delicious.

According to Nutritionix and sourced from USDA data.

Beets contain

2% Protein

2% Carbs,

Micronutrients

7%Potassium

6% Vitamin C

5% Vitamin B6

4%Magnesium

3% Iron

2% Sodium

1%Calcium

So they are pretty good for us!

Cheers, Midori

Sorry it's been a while since posted. The pain came back after a few weeks. I tried beetroot once again, this time it made no change. Having a pain free few weeks where I felt so good so I decided to change my lifestyle drastically hoping that I could get over FM. I went from an office job into a construction job, lifting heavy concrete blocks, beams, laying bricks etc working outdoors in the cold and rain. I can't remember when I last worked so hard. The good news is the pain has completely gone away. It's been over 5 weeks of pain free days however I still have some days of brain fog. I get good sleep and get out of bed without any effort. I no longer sleep for more than 7 hours, 8 hours on the weekend. Overall I am more relaxed, in a routine and much happier.
