Is it all down to fm

I've seen my doctor more times in the last few months than ever in the last ten years and every problem seems to be put down to fm. I'm just as confused because I dont know what is and what's not down to fm.

Does anyone else have this problem???

Hi Jane,

I thought I knew till this afternoon what was wrong with me. I thought I had fibro and an underactive thyroid and osteoarthritis. Now I'm not sure and am very confused.

They can't put everything down to fibro but it seems some do. I'm totally confused too.

Hi Kel,

Nothing really, just been talking about my thyroid and everyone seems to be saying maybe I don't habe fibro but my thyroid isn't been managed properly. So I'm confused lol. It doesn't take much. :)

I'm fine - apart from my eye which is really hurting now. :(

Thanks both of you, I was diagnosed eleven years ago but none of the doctors seem that clued up it was a locem who diagnosed me.

The latest thing is no strength in my hands and extream pain up through my wrists and inner forarm.

I have an underactive thyroyd as well, wonder if there connected???

Hi Jane

I know what you mean and it is hard I also in the end give up going to the Dr's as get fed up with it being labelled as just another fibro symptom.

You know you always have the right to a second opinion mind so if worried go back and if necessary ask to be referred to the hospital for tests.

Take care Hugs Ruby xx

in often wonder if underactive thyroid and fibro are connected and certainly between them they really mess up a persons body! one controlling all the organs and the other muscular system. and many of the symptoms overlap. yup i am confused too! xxx :)

I reckon they could be. I had my yearly thyroid test in February and I got a letter from my doctor - who is really great - and he said it suggestes that I might be slightly over replaced. It said it may be worthwhile trying to reduce my thyroxine from 125mcg a day to 100mcg which I have done.

In the few weeks that I've been taking less thyroxine, I've put weight on and ache more. This morning I got up - dragged myself out of bed lol - and I ache all over and worse than I do normally.

I've got an unexpected day off tomorrow, might go and see one of the other doctors and ask him about going back up to my 125mcg.

I'm really fed up with this now.

thyroid levels afect individual in the same way as temperature - they are individual and we all thrive in different levels.. sounds like you need to go back up. I have been asking to go on a higher dose but up till now my aiments have been put down as fibro. actually i feel more fibroee than thyroidee at the moment. thyroid makes my neck uncomfortable and temp uncontrollable. I am fed up too, i woke this morning with terrible pain in the pelvic area. it went when i got up (sleep on firm memory foam!) xxxx :)

my friend says my sentences are getting dyslexic (not words). :)

in reply togypsycrafter

Thanks gc, I have a memory foam mattress too and I hobble about for an hour or two before I can actually bend even a little. I put my pc on with my big toe now cos I just can't bend down that far. :)

My pain is mostly my lower back and hips areas. Specially on a morning.

I've not given much thought to my thyroid for years but now I'm finding out what I can about both that and fibro. xxx

lol i put everything down to fibro now !!!! it gets you like that love to you diddle x

I know the feeling, my dad has (and fms) and I'm going for tests for it today. Since I already have three of the same conditions as my dad, I'm pooping myself. But the best thing for confusion relief is education, are there any decent helplines out there? X

in reply toClairepie

Good luck with the tests today Claire. Have a look in 'tags' and you will probably find something. x

This is my experience too, once we had the diagnosis, my GP told me never to attribute every symptom to Fibromyalgia, and get it checked out. I have a long-standing bowel disease, and fibromyalgia can cause bowel problems in some patients, but I never sit on it, since I was told if I did, my bowel could perforate!!
